Religion (all of them!) is the root of the problem.

What would you do after October 7th, if you were governing Israel? What would your objective be? Would your decision likely result in people dying?

Re: In todays news...
You think this is actually about religion? I don't know many real religions that condone killing babies or raping non-believers etc etc. It is, same as it ever was, about money, power, control. Netanyahu is dead in the water, he needs a war to retain the above. Hamas, ditto.

That will shine a light on the hypocrisy but I'm not sure how much good that will do.
Just for the record, I'm not in any way shape or form excusing Hamas and the attack they perpetrated on Oct the 7th (was the 7th wasnt it?) but I don't feel thats a good enough reason to kill thousands of children and displace millions of Palestinians. Oh and bombing hospitals, supposed safe routes and so on.
I'm not against the peace loving Jewish people (would be a bit of a home goal for someone who's great grandfather was called Abraham Bloomer ) but some of the Zionist stuff is bloody evil (IMO like).
Completely agree.
My DIL is Jewish and I think, by definition, my granddaughter: two people I love unconditionally. This is not an all Jews are evil comment, cause they're not. Neither are all Palestinians.
Israel has shown that they still follow the old testament teaching of an eye for an eye etc... However: they're also going about it in a manner that has a striking resemblance to another horrific 1930s genocide. I cannot square away such a thing in my head, nor the fact that their actions can be justified as defence. Where does digging up the drains, wrecking homes and arresting just about anyone they like; collective punishment fit in? Medieval at best.
The whole thing upsets me to the point of tears at times.
It needs to stop.
This is not me looking for an argument or insults. Just being honest about how I feel. We're all entitled to this on RTTL aren't we?

Re: In todays news...
Could be wrong on this but I heard that Bush Snr managed to put a stop on Israel being barstewards yonks ago by stopping the guarantee on Isralie governmental loans.
Maybe if they'd kept that up a bit we might have avoided this situation altogether.

Re: In todays news...
If I were governing Israel I would have tried to remove the pressure on Palestinians that meant they felt impelled to create such havoc. To just start this whole debate at 7th October is to miss the point entirely. Israel (or Netanyahu and his historical cronies) have been ramping up the oppression and aggression on Palestine for decades and eventually something was bound to snap. The oppression of Palestinians should never have been allowed to ratchet up to the point that October 7th ((or something similar) became inevitable.

Some religions do seem to cause more problems than others.
I have a lot of time for some and a lot less for others.

This situation would probably have been avoided altogether had Hamas long ago renounced their Covenant.demographic wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 6:53 pmCould be wrong on this but I heard that Bush Snr managed to put a stop on Israel being barstewards yonks ago by stopping the guarantee on Isralie governmental loans.

So, as Hamas are not in control of the West Bank, explain why the military and the 'settlers' are stirring things up there. That can't have anything to do with your precious covenant.irie wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 7:54 pmThis situation would probably have been avoided altogether had Hamas long ago renounced their Covenant.demographic wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 6:53 pmCould be wrong on this but I heard that Bush Snr managed to put a stop on Israel being barstewards yonks ago by stopping the guarantee on Isralie governmental loans.

Are the civilian casualties in Gaza caused by the West Bank, or are we talking about something else now?Count Steer wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 8:03 pmSo, as Hamas are not in control of the West Bank, explain why the military and the 'settlers' are stirring things up there. Events have to be viewed from a historical perspective otherwise they cannot be understood. The events of Oct 7th didn't happen out of nowhere, they were the result of decades of oppression/aggression from Israel and more specifically Zionism.JackyJoll wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 8:03 pmTo go back in time is easier to concoct an answer round, but it can’t be done.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 7:32 pm[quote =mangocrazy]To just start this whole debate at 7th October is to miss the point entirely.

To be fair to SA, they haven’t achieved a complete genocide of anybody, yet. They’ve just murdered a huge number of souls.
