It's quaint that you think it will be printed, maybe I'll send it by fax ...... I mean, coz it's still 1985 and I couldn't possibly email a PDF file to potential employers.
You'll have to figure out how to work your computer so the picture is the right size first.

Dude, you can't resize a simple JPEG and you expect us to believe you can convert to PDF and send an email.

Why are you adding photos to a cv?
It'll be printed at 80 dpi and they'll look shit. By all means provide links to a gallery online, but i wouldn't be wanting to see photos in the document itself.
Photos on a CV are the norm in my industry/ location.
It's quaint that you think it will be printed, maybe I'll send it by fax ...... I mean, coz it's still 1985 and I couldn't possibly email a PDF file to potential employers.
My point is that you have no control whatsoever over how your CV will be presented by the HR person to the decision making person.
You've got to accommodate the entire range of possibilities, from it being printed in black and white at 80dpi(so any photos will be pixelated to buggery), read on a phone screen (so photos will be too small to see properly), to viewed on a projector using a poor resolution (so any photos will be indecipherable blurs).
Like i say, do it in ready to read text and provide links to a gallery.
I think maybe too many of you only ever work for large companies with HR departments. That's not the norm in hospitality. Literally 95% of the CV's I see have a photo. There are Facebook Groups for jobs and CV's are posted every single day.
I finally figured it out and converted to PDF, sent it out twice.
1 I had a quick phone call first with the owner of the recruitment agency. Then emailed over the PDF.
2 I'd had a brief chat via text with the owner of the chalet. Then emailed over the PDF.
So you see, I DO know how my CV is presented. And while I don't know, I still think it would be really bizarre for someone to physically print out CV's ??!!
Anyway, 2 emails sent, 2 interviews booked for next week

Fair point, my CV hasn't been updated in over 20 years

I've found it's agencies that insist on modifying CVs, they say it's to improve it but all they really want to do is remove your contact details.

Not only is it normal here to put a photo on a cv, it's expected. Maybe only in tourism etc, but I'm pretty sure it's the same in most industries.
I always put a b&w photo on cos I don't want them to bin the cv purely cos I have stupid hair!!!

Found out my dog has a suspected brain tumour (on his Pituitary Gland).
Final results pending, but the initial CT review looks that way. Spinal Tap results on Monday along with the official CT results. Then options discussion time. Which I am not looking forward to.
That sux lovely - hugs to you all x

I don't want to be
that old duffer who moans about the price of going out, but feck me senseless...
We went on a dog walk to Cooling on the Thames estuary on Saturday. Walked a circular route from a fairly non-descript pub, so decided to grab a quick drink and a sandwich on our return as it was lunchtime. A 'Fish goujon baguette' rocked in £13.95. Granted it was cooked fresh, proper batter and stuff, but it wasn't exactly hanging off the wooden serving platter (plates seem to have disappeared from restaurants these days) and came with precisely feck-all in terms of sides. No chips, no salad, no crisps... My beef baguette was no less petite and came in at 12.95. Veritable bargain compared to the fish option.
I'm not accusing the bloke in the pub of ripping people off. He has overheads, which I'm sure have rocketed, but it gets to the point where you begrudge going out, such is the cost.
On a similar note, Mrs. G. booked a meal for six of us to go to Colonel Saab, a poncey Indian restaurant just of Trafalgar Square in a couple of weeks. I took a look at the menu, more to see what was on offer, but I couldn't help but notice the prices being a tad on the toppy side. I did suggest we bin it off, but deposit has been paid, plus part of me thinks, 'Stop being such a tight-fisted fecker'.

I agree, there's limits. Even a quick shoot out to Miller and Carter for 2 you're looking the best part of £100, our 'local' brewery you're lucky if you get change from £70 for 2, so £90 if we take the lad too.
I look at things at times in terms of value and what else i can do/get instead.
But sometimes when Mrs Weeksy is having a bad week, it's got to be done.

There were four of us and my mate picked up the tab (top tip: hang back from the bar with the old 'I'll sit over here with the dog' to avoid getting your wallet out

) so with four sarnies, three coffees and a tonic water I think he forked out nigh-on £80.

We often used to spend a sunny sunday afternoon outside a pub somewhere, but have stopped doing it as often now, as when you look back at what you've spent it s does make you think WTF! If we go out for dinner with the kids and their other halves I pick up the bill as they have mortgages etc, but we do that less often now as the last time the bill was more than my campervan insurance!

Other way around for us, if we're out with the oldies we'll pick up the tab, they paid out for us as kids now it's our turn.
Fuck it, there are no prizes for going to your grave with a bigger bank balance than the fella buried next to you, spend it and enjoy it while you can as you're a long time dead.

On the flip side.... how much has your salary gone up over the same time period? (numerically speaking that is... not "relatively")

Dreams, the bed company.
We were up at Decathlon in Oxford yesterday so next door was Dreams. Popped in to get a pillow, mine is old and a little flatter than when it was new. It was expensive at about £75 at the time but i like it...
Ended up with a Seally for £55... Fair shout, not bad.
When i tried it on the bed it was too high. So took it back today.. I was going to Tesco in Abingdon so made sense to go there to Dreams.
"oh, we can't accept returns from another store"
After longer discussions of WTF mate.... they don't do returns apart from the store you bought it from. I mean fucking REALLY.
And people wonder why the high street is dying when fucking muppets can't even accept sometimes you're not in the town in which you live !!!

Maybe it's a franchise operation not a proper chain? (wouldn't be surprised).

No idea... but you'd think it'd get mentioned. If i buy something in Tesco, Decathlon, wherever really, you take it back to the same make/model of shop and it's all OK. It honestly never entered my mind that it would be any different.

Dreams pillows!!!!! ok so I know I said you're a long time dead and to spend spend spend, but by jiggery they take the piss.
Best pillow I've ever had was from Amazon surprisingly enough, after a Dreams one lasted all but 2 years, ASIN: B0B18H4D1R
