ECU removed and shipped off to https://www.wizperformance.co.uk/produc ... -ecu-flash
Several guys on here and FZ09 forum have used and are very impressed.

I was under the impression that to gain the best results from an ecu flash, the bike needed to be present and run on the dyno? I know the likes of Woolwich have set maps for different mods on a wide range of models, but I'd like to have it specifically tailored to my bike.weeksy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 11:06 am ECU removed and shipped off to https://www.wizperformance.co.uk/produc ... -ecu-flash

There's a guy close to me who won't do the flash unless he has the bike present.

Plenty do, plenty don't. To get the optimal results though yes of course a full remap is better. But it's nearly 3x the price.Skub wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 1:04 pmI was under the impression that to gain the best results from an ecu flash, the bike needed to be present and run on the dyno? If it's not being too nosey, what's the cost of a flash done remotely?

Cool.
I was quoted £360 for the Woolwich software/dyno set up.
I'll be very interested to know how the bike feels to you after the flash.

Did you have fuelling issues or just for exhaust ?

Me too. I see it as no different to when you'd get a flash on a KTM 990 or a Ducati race ECU, even Aprilia still do it on the rsv4, you take it in and it gets a flash map.
The software is still done with Woolich, you can enable or disable all the same options like AIS etc, change the fan settings, disable any restrictors and set O2 settings, even change engine braking. As well if course as the fuel map, but yeah that's a 'generic' race map rather than a dedicated one for your bike.

With my BMW F800R I had a generic reflash done by Mototuning in Dublin. They set base points in AFR witin the ECU and the motoronic Fi will always adjust to that baseline. So it actually works if you change cans etc. I was very impressed with it.

Will a Weeksy bike get to 1,000?
Has he ever had a bike this long ?

Re: Happy new bike day.... WTF, what do you mean it's a Yamaha ???
It's going nowhere. The quirkiness off the KTM stuff I owned was part of its appeal but at the same time it was obviously a downside. With the XSR it's basically everything I want in a bike almost out of the crate, even the things I've done to improve it are only marginal, they were personal preference rather than necessity. If they'd made the standard exhaust with a decent paint I don't think I'd have ever even swapped it.
When I first sat in the XSR I was blown away by it, it was a real lightbulb moment of "wow, that's so bloody good" and I've not lost that.
If I were being really picky, I loved thrashing the 690 hard, braking late and stuffing bikes that should be better than it, but the XSR is easier and better both in roads and track. Even at Pembrey in leathers I couldn't get into it was quicker than the 690, next time, it'll be better again.
I'm looking forward to this year's riding more than ever.

Many people bitch about fuelling, I was perfectly happy. But fitting a full system without a Cat, I wanted a bit richer fuelling at the very least. As with many bikes to pass emissions they run a bit on the leaner side.

It's to early to tell how the fueling is on my 09 from the short ride I've had but I know it has a Track-electronics labelled ecu and the full Akrapovic system.
It'll be interesting to hear how your bike feels once everything is done.

Re: Happy new bike day.... WTF, what do you mean it's a Yamaha ???
Shape was hard to get a decent compromise of what i wanted and what actually existed, along with what was available in the UK and a reasonable price. The Leo Vince was £500 new... The Zard/Akra/etc were all £900-1100 which is just way too steep. I've been waiting for 5 weeks for an Akrapovic/MT09 to come up on Ebay used, which is generally around the £500-550 mark but none have come up apart from damaged ones. The look i wanted was tucked in like the standard and this fits in with that criteria.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 9:09 am Not too noisy then. Not sure about the shape.

I didn't want one that stuck out like that.... On the MT09 maybe, but not on an XSR900
Yes mine has the same 3 mode settings A standard B.

I like the underslung ones, keeps a nice balanced look, bit like the Buells.
Lots of folk send off ecu to smooth out fuelling issues in A mode on tracer forum. It is very jumpy in A mode in slow, town traffic. Any little bump in the road with tiny throttle movement, and jump. I just use standard and A on track where everything is smooth. Standard fine on track aswel. Don't understand B mode.

I use standard everywhere. Thoughts are this should now make A mode a lot more refined but with the extra go go go

I always find that with these various throttle modes - in cars at least - that you rapidly 'dial out' the difference mentally anyway. Once you've driven for more than a few minutes you subconsciously recalibrate and there's no difference.
