Iirc, if you buy this month then they won't be eligible for a draw until the month after next. They have to be in your account a full month. I might be wrong tho'.

On the NS&I site there's a bond which pays 4.04% for a year. If you've got the maximum amount in Premium Bonds, by my usually wrong maths, you'll need to win more than £166.66 every month to do better than the fixed rate investment.

Is the bond thing tax free? If not, that 168 reduces a bit for equality.

You don't get the thrill/disappointment of getting/not getting £100k or £1M with a bond. PBs are a bit of safe gambling (and better odds than the Lottery ).
