ohh bet that smarted, GWS.
Ribs take ages to heal, like months.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

Re: A right now thread
On a slightly less painful note, I received a tax bill for 40p. For reasons I can't fathom, I decided to log on to the Govt. Gateway to check. Somewhat to my surprise, it informed that I owed them £1,208.48.
Diving into the details they'd charged me £300 as a late submission fine and then £900 in daily penalties, plus a bit of interest. Naturally I called them, and naturally they took nigh-on an hour to answer, but in fairness, the lady looked into why. Long story short, I did a paper Self Assessment for 2019-20, then found it some considerable months later, in a pile of paper on my desk at home. My bad. Sent it, set up myself up on the gateway, paid the £100 late fine, thought that was that. They returned the paper SA form in November of this year, citing a small error, which I correct and returned.
In fairness, the lady confirmed this was an unacceptable delay and simply removed the £1,200+int there and then. Thank feck for that.
I have now submitted my 20-21 SA form online and paid the 40p that was outstanding as I don't want them buggers on my back again.
So, remember to submit your Self Assessment form, if required, by 31 Jan, people. Take my tale of tardiness as fair warning.

Re: A right now thread
I did my online SA a while back but then got hit with a 5 figure bill earlier this month.
"What the bloody ell" thinks I.
So I ring the HMRC...turns out I'd managed to declare all my income but completely failed to declare any of the tax I'd paid I have no idea how I even made such an obvious oversight.
Ended up with a switch from a ~£20k bill to a £190 rebate. If you do it all online said rebate is paid immediately by BACS too

Was a strange tumble. If it's hard enough to snap the bone in my hand, probably enough to bust the rib when I rolled.

I was about to put another front tyre on the NCX but I can't find my tyre levers anywhere. So I'm now sulking and having a cup of tea.

Because the form is crappy and designed to catch you out, though at the moment I'm having problems even getting to the online form.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 12:48 pm I did my online SA a while back but then got hit with a 5 figure bill earlier this month.

Re: A right now thread
I've managed it every other year without this issue and I don't think the form's changed. I think I know where the blame lies and it ain't HMRC!

I found my bigger tyre lever and like the neanderthal I am I used a big screwdriver. Only a couple of small chips on the rim paint, but its not like IGAS!

Re: A right now thread
Pain, I feel pain. Just had a call from the hospital. Apparently my insurance are paying for the operation no problem. But not paying for the metal plate and screws. Gonna hit me for 1578 Euros. Shit.
1 plate
4 screws
I've just emailed to complain.
