Got fleeced in New York! God it’s expensive here, $10-12 for a beer! $5 for a bottle of water! Having an amazing time though. Just vinushed off some 14 hour smoked brisket in Virgil’s and then in O’Donoghues for an over priced nightcap.
On English tome still so wide awake now but enjoying the night view…

A coat of paint would brighten the place up and make you happier.

Re: What have you done today thread?
4 of us have gone to the NW200 for 10 days every year since 2001 from Cornwall. The oldest is 85 this year and has gone on his R1/Busa/RSV Mille/Striple/GSXR 1000 over the years, until Covid, and then the death of his wife last year. This year was supposed to be back on track, but he has asbestosis and is now really struggling. The idea this time was for him to go as my pillion - he knew he wasn’t strong enough to ride his own bike to Birkenhead for the ferry - so today, in all that horrendous weather, we had arranged to do a trial run. If he could cope, it might work. Putting on his waterproofs - sit for a while to get his breath back. Boots - ditto. Helmet and gloves - yep. We went out to the bike; he managed, just, to get on, and sat leaning on the tank, gasping. “No good, John?” “ Nope, no good, Dave.” We’ll really miss him in Ireland - great company, can talk bollocks for hours, like the rest of us, far more experienced re bikes than we are - e.g. 2 weeks ago he bought a very nice Monster 900 which he knows he’ll never be able to ride, and he’s going to dismantle and restore it - he just loves bikes. He’s just a really good part of the trip.
Very sad, after 22 years.

My daughter got a proposal of marriage at the top of the Empire State Building today, which she readily accepted to rapturous applause from bystanders! I don’t think any of could have been happier!! Off out to continue the celebrations now!

I’ll be saving alright. To try and put back the hundreds of $s I’m ripping through each day. The prices are bad enough but then you have a minimum amount of 18% tip on top. It is crazy expensive here. Makes Dublin look like Poundland!!! we’re now told each person is charged $35 city tax a day???

Paid off the loan we took out to buy the house. £10k paid off in 14 months instead of 36months. It hurt to do it, but it gets us debt free.
Now that money goes into pension fund instead. Up too early this morning, need to walk the dog just now and then help with taking a funeral+burial later this afternoon. Then coffee and something nice with my brother this afternoon! Have not caught up in ages and will be good to see him.
Beer and something nice this evening I am sure.

Yesterday, spent 8 hours in the car to have a four hour lunch with my parents, it would have been 6 hours in the car but apparently wimmin need to stop every 15 minutes for a piss.
Today day off, and sods law dictates its pissing it down all bloody day.

Walking stick. Borrowed one for a walk along a wet slippery rocky path.
