I have had the most entertaining & hilarious back & forth with some muppet on FB after he posted pics of his Rocket 3 with an EE Lightning painted on it & I suggested it would be improved by putting BSA badges on as they actually made a Lightning...& then his brother chimed in too.

Me: Now ya need to remove ALL trace of it being a Triumph & put BSA badges on it... seeing as both the Rocket 3 & the Lightning were BSA models.

Me: Where have I said anything negative? The Triumph Trident & BSA Rocket 3 used the same engine, because at that point in time they were the same company... The difference was the BSA version had canted cylinders, which wasn't used on the Trident until the '75 T160V

(When we first rented a place in the Newcastle area we went up there on a weeks camping holiday at Seaton while we a place sorted. Grade 2 listed in a locally designated conservation area makes it sound almost unique but it is simply an 1850’s Victorian townhouse which was built for a ship’s captain and his family (interestingly the original deeds are in a lady’s name undoubtably as her husband would have been at sea on completion).

As for being of historical and architectural merit, it is one of several hundred similar properties in the city which are a mix of listed, listed in a conservation area and unlisted.

In terms of the Listed Building Consent… we may have ‘slightly’ taken the piss previously with having a Spanish slate roof installed to the front and UPVC doors and windows to the rear but this is no different than multiple examples in the same street and surrounding streets but we got hammered over.

Interestingly (or not), the enforcement officer came out because some arsehole (concerned citizen) reported us for repairing/replacing the rear elevation of the roof, on a like for like basis, with Eternit slates which the enforcement officer, after a bit of a chuntering, confirmed were suitable (like for like) but whilst on site he took exception to the windows and front elevation. I have my suspicions that English Heritage have been giving local authorities a hard time for doing the square root of fuck all in terms of compliance over the last 3 years and a harder line has been taken to secure funding… Cynical me? No never…!

I reckon had the skip and scaffolding at the front not been there, that part of the roof wouldn’t have been an issue…

Anyway, the LBC was granted last night with standard conditions, work must be commenced in next 3 years*, must match the submitted plans & drawings, minor material and non material changes are permitted but must be retrospectively consented and any substantive changes must be agreed before commencing.

* previous roof was fucked, gauge was wrong which meant the overlap was too small, slates on the cheeks of the dormer overlapped the slates on the roof of the dormer letting rainwater run behind them onto the felt behind, valleys had been incorrectly installed, flashings were too small etc which meant it all had to be ripped off and replaced.

**We don’t have three years left on the enforcement order, we have roughly 3 months left of the original 9 months. The LBC process has taken roughly 19 weeks of time with the council which I will use against them should we not be able to complete everything in the given time horizon.

Just had an interesting conversation. Well, the conversation wasn't! But, I was in the shower when the doorbell rang - I knew it was the post lady so hollared that I couldn't get to the door. When my leg was broken, she used to just come in (after ringing the bell!) and leave the post for me. So she did that!! LOL So, I'm sticking my head out the shower explaining that I'll leave the money at work tomorrow for the book that has arrived from the states!! LOL LOL

A couple from the top of the mountains today - I made it to the top of each of the three peaks out of my bit of resort. But I did kill my legs early due to nerves (different skis and just nervous!) and then the snow went slushy very early cos it's way too warm. So, I figured three hours was enough today!! LOL

The bits for the pressure washers arrived so they been rebuilt. They both seem to work but I've lent mine to a friend so i can test them under pressure.

The capacitor for the pillar drill has also arrived, I'll do that after a dish of tea.

Matey was on his way in his van to pick up his new S1000RR today,when he had a call from the dealer telling him not to bother as it's on a recall. Brake lever pin fault apparently.

He called down with his jetski in the van,the engine is something like 1700cc. The started it briefly and although I'm not adverse to loud bikes,this was eardrum bleeding time.

It was one of your beemer models. Whatever replaced the HP2. The nomenclature of bmw confuses me.
