Dammit. I need it to go the other way in November for my uk holiday (if it works out!)!! LOL
Just for context, the diff between today's giddy highs and where it has been for the last few weeks, had you decided to change up a grand for spendies, would be the princely sum of about £20.
Not a even a round of drinks in a 'Spoons these days.
But, as I always say, better in my pocket than in someone else's pocket.

OTOH another, not-well-respected source (I think it was GB News) was suggesting it will hit 1.40 as the German economy tanks.
If that does happen (and pigs can actually fly) it will only mean the GBP/EUR rate returning to levels that existed before the Brexit referendum was announced. GB News positively wet themselves with delight about any bad news coming out of €uroland.
What?
I work in Germany 2012 - 2020. When I started the exchange rate was 1.19 to the GBP, it dropped as far as 1.13 and then rose again to 1.16. When I left being full time in Germany I negotiated my salary at 1.17 euros to the GBP.
Then throught out the next few years it varied between 1.11 and 1.17.
If Brexit affected the GBP it was for a short time.
It did affect the GBP against the dollar and the Euro against the dollar.
Now, when I moved to CH, the Euro was at 1.45 to the GBP (2002) - that was a big fall
On July 18th 2015 the GBP/EUR rate hit a high of €1.44 to the £ and was trading in the €1.35 to €1.44 range between Feb 2015 and Jan 2016. Then Cameron announced the EU referendum and everything went titsup. I was watching the currency rates closely as I have a house in France and need to pay bills and taxes in Euros.

Well, if that happens in the next year I'll let Mohamed Al-Fayed's estate cut my cock off with a banana knife
I did point out the source, and my degree of reliance on it. I think your cock is safe enough, at least from banana knives.

I think we had a light shower yesterday around lunchtime but came into work today to hear tales of biblical monsoons sweeping across the country and floods in many places!

This pic on the BBC made me laugh. Who sees that - the road fucking disappearing into a river - and thinks "yeah I can make this".
It was pretty damp here, the pic was taken just outside MK, and the river next to my house burst it's banks. Fortunately it burst it's banks
riiiiiight into the sacrificial flood plane / park put their precisely for that purpose and everything was fine.

What you can't see is that that car was parked on the top floor of the multi-storey car park.

Blimey - senior moment. I kove back from permanent living in Germand end 2013 - I guess November - and we agreed a 1.19 euro to transfer my salary (but UK HR kindly put a 10% on top of that

)
I must have not bothered too much as I was paid in UK and travelling to Germany every 4 weeks.
So I take it back.

It's not in MK, its the A421 on the way out towards Bedford.
Right near where Universal are considering building a big new theme park actually! Maybe they'll change their mind

First roundabout out of MK if Google maps is right. The stretch of road immediately after the M1 junction is showing as closed.

Ironically I used to windsurf at Brogborough Lake. With that amount of water the screaming reaches in a South Westerly will go on for miles!

The future success of a racehorse can be detected in the animal’s gut when it is just one month old, research suggests.
A recent veterinary study analysed horses' poo, measuring the bacteria in the digestive systems of more than 50 thoroughbred foals over the first three years of their lives.
The study found the more types of gut microbes a foal had at just four weeks old directly correlates to its future health, and its success on the racecourse.
The findings, published in the journal Scientific Reports, external, add to an emerging biological picture regarding the importance of the trillions of microbes that live inside young animals’ digestive systems - and their role in long-term health.

Unfortunately, the 'success on the racecourse' may not actually relate to longevity, given the propensity of the industry to support the animal feed industry once they stop being a success on track. Not many racehorses die of old age.

You know when they evacuate hundreds of people due to an old WWII bomb being found and you think, 'Is it
really likely to go off after all these decades..?'

And they still work about the Richard Montgomery - TBF, who cares of the Isle of Sheppey is destroyed!
When I was working in Germany, a man with a digger hit some WW2 bomb in a building site. He died - it's all over the pale in Western Germany still
