You look like a twat...and yet, I feel I should take you seriously.McSatan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 2:40 pmYou don't need to smoke it, though. I have a pipe purely for pontificating reasons. If you sit in a pub or on a train on your own with a pipe in your mouth, people avoid you. In company it's a wonderful thing for making a point or looking intelligent, even when you're at the pint of no return.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 1:26 pmYou can't do it in the office though. And the only reason to smoke a pipe is so that when someone asks you a question at work, you can lean back in your chair, take a few puffs, then give them the answer while jabbing the air with your pipe.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 1:18 pm I believe you can get e-cigs in the shape of a classic style pipe.
You could smoke one of those with 0% juice in, without becoming addicted to nicotine.

At least you didn't have to spend fifteen hundred quid to find they're shit.

I get the feeling that if I ever get the JAPton up to running condition I'll need a pipe just so I can pontificate properly about it when I attend classic bike meets....Count Steer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 2:24 pmOh me, oh my...a Sherlock Holmes vape pipe would be an absolute hoot! (I always thought the main point of pipes was the ritual of cleaning, loading and lighting then, once lit, dropping them in your tweed jacket pocket then flapping at it when your pocket started to smoulder).

If you ever take the JAPton to a classic bike meet you'll need the St John's Ambulance people in attendance to deal with all your pipe-jab injuries from the other attendees.Rockburner wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 4:40 pmI get the feeling that if I ever get the JAPton up to running condition I'll need a pipe just so I can pontificate properly about it when I attend classic bike meets....Count Steer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 2:24 pmOh me, oh my...a Sherlock Holmes vape pipe would be an absolute hoot! With this head cold and sore throat, I feel ancient. But I am in the average median. And I went out on the Triumph to collect a battery for the car this evening. Love riding that bike, even when I feel grotty.

For some reason I wanted to carry a zippo about and not have to faff around with lighter fluid, tried the single and dual jet butane jobbies, both were appallingly bad and are sitting in a drawer somewhereRockburner wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 4:39 pmyeah - I did wonder....MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 4:34 pmDon't do it, they're shitRockburner wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:02 pm

What would enrage them more, a modified bike or an e-pipe?Rockburner wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 4:40 pmI get the feeling that if I ever get the JAPton up to running condition I'll need a pipe just so I can pontificate properly about it when I attend classic bike meets....Count Steer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 2:24 pmOh me, oh my...a Sherlock Holmes vape pipe would be an absolute hoot! A butane gas Zippo is simply not a Zippo. OK, the lid might go 'click' but, after that....MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 6:10 pmFor some reason I wanted to carry a zippo about and not have to faff around with lighter fluid, tried the single and dual jet butane jobbies, both were appallingly bad and are sitting in a drawer somewhere

Re: Are you an old bastard?
I'm 48, but sometimes I feel about 90 and other times I feel about 16. Body definitely isn't what it was but (touch wood) I'm not on any meds which I put down to having never smoked and packing in drink and recreational pharmaceuticals years ago. I do eat a load of shite though. My hair went totally grey about 5 years ago and the wife is begging me to shave my beard off as kids are calling me Santa.
I'm also a grandfather now. Scary shit indeed.
And I've been told by several people that Granda Joe from Derry Girls must have been based on me.
