I felt the same when I bought the 800gs,but by the time I got home on it after an hour or so ride it felt completely normal. Not been on a normal bike since but when I do i reckon it's going to feel very different.

On the HYpermotard, you had to look down to see the clocks and you couldn't hardly see any bike in front of you. On my CB1R there is just the bars and clocks but they're low and it felt very narrow. On this its the complete opposite, there is just tank, screen and cockpit and lots of it! I was actually taken aback by how much bike there was in front of me at first, but as you say, you quickly get used to it...

Some of what you’ve written I don’t feel when I ride mine. Have a good look at suspension settings. As standard they need a little more rebound damping in the front to stop them wallowing and some rear preload and damping too. Can get them feeling really good. I’d check it hasn’t been lowered at all at the rear as they do turn quickly. Take some time playing with the settings it’ll be worth it

Thanks i'll look into that. Mind you, it didn't feel bad, just so different to the other two. It also felt lovely and compliant over the dips and bumps of the back roads between the villages. But I should deffo look into it as i'm a lump and should try and set it up accordingly.

Did you have a play with the flaps or just leave in auto. ? What you think of pillion seat. ?

I recently decided to buy a sat nav that takes you off on those mystery routes and picked up a s/h TomTom 410 Rider. After buying it I then discovered the AT has a wired and switched Garmin mount set up on it! D'oh! So I faced a lot of panel removal to undo the Garmin mount and replace it with the TomTom one. When I got there today the Sales guy said they took the previous owner's Garmin Zumo 595LM in and it was available for £200. So i took the easy route and bought it and will sell the TomTom. Riding home I could sort of follow the map visually but really need a headset. Anyone recommend one?

Yeah, it all came back to me fairly quickly and i hit the - downshift button a few times. I also flicked in and out of D and S modes as I did on previous DCTs. It has 3 S modes and i've not had that before, so I need to have a read up on how to select them on the fly. But the one thing the bike did today was confirm what fan of the DCT i am and not just because of my dodgy leg, just because its a great system once you've got your head around it.

Didnt even look at the pillion seat tbh as my wife isn't interested in going on bikes, fortunately...

Yes I can easily flat foot it. I'm not sure what the seat height is but there two heights the seat can be set at?

And when you go back the other way, you get on, look down and go 'Hang on a minute, where did everything go?! What's that? Oh it's the front wheel!'

Just been to parcel shop and picked the Remus up! Might fit it monday when I get back home or just run the bike for a week and then try the Remus next weekend...

Chatting with Mrs T last night and she asks if I like the new bike and will it finally be a bike I’m comfortable on?
I said I was very pleased with the bike as it’s literally as clean as a new one . So clean in fact that I should probably get a cheap old scooter for when the weather is bad. Fair to say she wasn’t amused at my proffering…

I've never ridden a AT as I prefer middlewight bikes,but I think that's the best looking of the ADV bike's & your example looks mint.

Just got back from weekend away so I went straight out and looked but the Givi topbox doesn't fit on that SW Motech plate. I do have the Givi mounting plate that goes with the topbox though, so assuming that fits on whatevers under the SW Motech plate I should be able to get a topbox on there without having to buy one. The Givi box looks a mess but its actually really good nick and will clean up well.

Imo...adventure style bikes are the only style bikes that a top box doesn't harm it's appearance.

I've used Sena for a few years. Had the S10R (?) which is fine. Good sound and connectivity to the phone is good.

I've now got the Shoei GT AIr 2 with the Sena unit that's designed to integrate with it. Nice bit of kit. Interestingly, the Tiger 900 has the Triumph connectivity wizardry built in, so with the app on the phone, the phone connects to the bike and then the helmet connects to the bike as well, and the bike controls everything via a thumb joystick. Generally works well, though the volume control doesn't work with Sena kit (known issue, Carl Rosner are hopeful a software update will resolve the issue).

I threw a cheap one on the back of the Tiger. Looks ok, it holds my backpack and was about a quarter of the price of the Triumph one.

And ten thousand Uber Eats scooter riders can't be wrong, can they.

I leave mine on the gs all the time, don't like panniers tho...

I was riding a hire bike in Italy, and went to park it between some bollards, forgetting there was these bloody great suitcases jutting from the side of the bike.

I was in Assisi at the time. Clearly the Lord wasn't watching over me that day, even though I was in his neighbourhood.
