Having just re-read the thread, and especially the lengthy debate between Taipan and others about whether photochromic lenses are a problem in tunnels, etc, I'd say this is one issue I'll have to slightly hope for the best about with the Drivewears. But the blurb says they never get fully dark behind a windscreen. If that's true, and also true for visors, then tunnels, forests etc shouldn't be a problem. Or at least I hope so.
The reason given for them only darkening to a mid tint behind screens is that behind a screen they are responding only to visible light, not UV light (which is filtered out by the screen). In the open air they respond to both, and you get the full dark brown tint in sunny conditions.
