Problems I can think of with 15 minute cities

They encourage isolated communities which could become ghettos
People would be more likely to pick partners from the 15 minute gene pool
It's great if you live in a nice one, but bloody awful if you live in a bad one
They discourage social mobility because people will only mix with people like them

Generally people are better when they mix with more people and have a wider experience of life, 15 minute cities discourage this, it would be like living on an isolated housing estate in the 1970s, the fabulous New Cumnock springs to mind as an example of what can go wrong.

I don't think cycling is as cheap or easy as marketing has us believe. Ebikes and any reasonable bike will be above many people's budgets and more than they would pay for a car, a nasty budget bike is affordable but a pig to maintain.
When I used to cycle a few thousand miles a year the cost in time and parts to keep it on the road really surprised me.

Plus when I lived in a village, the roads were so bad locally anything with skinny wheels was wrecked in no time.

What did country people do 70s, and before, when private transport was limited or totally inaccessible?

Stayed and shopped local (or at least shopped at the local 'market town' which had effing everything)
Cycled, walked
Busses and trains

I live in NI, public transportation is an absolute joke and the council's have jacked up commercial rates so much that any small shops can't stay viable.

There were 3 buses a day from our local stop and half the time they didn't show, the nearest town is an hour's walk away along some really nasty back roads, the nearest shop was in Doagh, but it was just a petrol station with an offy built on the end.

If I never had to drive a car again,I'd not miss it. Unlikely to be a reality,though.

Yeah, driving a Yaris can do that to you.
