Not sure they need fully synth, Rich @ Louigi always puts 10/40 Semi synth in these motors.
Can't do any harm though!![]()

Loving the thread, am sucking my teeth a bit over the engine cosmetic re-finishing approach though
- I predict that it might even fall off quicker than when it was brand new!

My CBR has rattle can silver on the engine (done by some previous owner). I know for a fact its rattle can cause you can see the overspray on the rubber hoses they didn't removeTricky wrote: Fri Mar 04, 2022 10:30 pm Loving the thread, am sucking my teeth a bit over the engine cosmetic re-finishing approach though- I predict that it might even fall off quicker than when it was brand new!

It's still going strong and it's at least 7 years old.

I had the motor on my Project No.1 900SS media blasted and am leaving it bare. The only parts where paint doesn't really like to last long is the on the crankcases which are sand castings. The No.2 bike isstill on the bench - I might see how Ian's survives before going for paint or CerakoteTricky wrote: Fri Mar 04, 2022 10:30 pm Loving the thread, am sucking my teeth a bit over the engine cosmetic re-finishing approach though- I predict that it might even fall off quicker than when it was brand new!

Just moved house but the track bike is closest - It'll have a daytime MOT so yeah, would be great to get out on the thing. What state of repair is you monster in these days?crust wrote: Mon Mar 07, 2022 7:32 pm Big thumbs up from me
Come on, GP - get one of yours on the road then we can have a rumbly red twins meet in the summer - ish.

Will probably need a bit of coaxing to start but should be a goer easy enough.
Re: Ducati 900ss Light Resto/Fix Up
Not much progress last week as life & a failed starter solenoid got in the way but this morning the engine work was all finished & the bike rolled out into the sunshine for the last bits of bodywork to be refitted.

Great stuff.
Looking forward to having a spin on that
You've inspired me so much that I went round to the lock up to say hello to mine this morning
