Trust me the R6 is sorrier than the ZX...Unless you wanna swap, in which case it's a lovely project needs no work at all.

The reason for needing a new clutch cable...

I think I just heard Weeksy passing out from here.

Clutch cable now replaced and suddenly it is nice and smooth! That will make a nice difference when I do finally ride the bike again. Brake lines must be done first as the single line is too tight to risk riding and I need to clean up the mudguard. Require some black spray from Halfords I think.

Yup, plastic ones in the tank and they went "crack". So I've ordered two from Tom Parkers for the replacement.

Plastic Triumph Quick Connectors. Pop! I've bought a fuel filter as well so when I change the lot over, it will also have a new filter. Should be simple enough right?


Metal Fittings on the fuel lines.

Trying to get that broken quick release connector out is a real pain! The okay one came out reluctantly, but it came out in one piece. The broken bit is not shifting at all. I'll have to get it out piecemeal, Probably remove the whole pump and then work on it out of the tank.

You'll need a gasket too then I think? It's been a while since i've been in there, but IIRC everything is bolted to a common metal plate which is turn makes a 'window' into the tank?

Correct. I'll sort that in good time. There is not rush as I am not riding in this weather now! I've become a FWB in full! Besides, I'm not able to ride in robes, too flappy! I may do it once for a laugh though!

Count yourself blessed. The Dyno session for the Triumph cost previous owner £175 and he was only just into the ULEZ area!! Less than 1/4 of a mile too!

I have the fitting now, just need the PTFE tape and patience to remove the old broken plastic bits out of the thread. Awaiting the new fuel filter as well and a new fuel plate rubber gasket as the old one was totally knackered. In the bin!

Is it really? It seems to be a thread about rebuilding a Triumph not one about spouting political bollox.

I like the idea of quick release fuel lines if not the execution in Triumph's case. Trying to balance the fuel tank whilst attempting to force the fuel pipe over the barb isn't one of my favourite things.

The Triumph system ain't too bad once the fittings are metal, you can just jam and jab blindly until something clicks without much fear of damage

You could have easily brought up the ulez without turning it into a soap box, I'd not have questioned it.

I think the Triumph ones are mostly about the pressure, the quick releases element is a happy bonus. As above the fuel pump is inside the tank (actually immersed in the fuel IIRC) so the fuel comes out of the tank at several bar. If you had hoses with springs clips or wherever you'd run the risk of them blowing off.

New fuel quick release connectors here. Have to get the broken one out now somehow. It is fragmenting. Fortunately I have a tapping set, so may be able to chase it out bit by bit. Patience is the game for this one. Fuel filter will be here in a few days as well. I've got the fuel pump flange rubber gasket arriving later on as well as the old one was a mess. Must be the original one.

Bits fitted. Yes, one is opposite facing to the other. Easier to release that one from that angle.
