I was laughing the other day when out at Goring jumps, it seems i'm the only one of the parents who tries and attempts the jumps.
I think part of it is trying to get acceptance from the kids, partly justifying turning up on a 160mm bike and partly just because i bloody love it !
I do struggle at times to find the next level on certain jumps though. I did about 40-50 runs at this jump and i still need another 3-4 pedal strokes to nail it 100% every time, it's a decent drop into a bowl then out the other side. But as i'm approaching the bowl i have a desire to drag/tap the brakes to modulate my speed and it's really hard to get past it and carry that extra little bit of speed. I'm really hoping we have a few more dry weeks so i can head over again and again, keep sessioning it and just getting it 'right'. The thing is though, as you're going up the slope it really does feel like you're going to land in another county. ! Keeping it going that little bit faster is really tough.

Indeed not - Summerlee Ave, East Finchley. Fitted gears again, in the process discovered I needed new BB bearings, went to LBS and got them fitted (Hope 30mm BB) fitted BB and crank, went to swap free hub body and discovered wheel bearings need cleaning and lubing, free hub body bearings were toast so back to LBS for more bearings. All now built up and ready to roll.

Planned a nice 80km loop today, through Barnet and Epping and back, got 11km in and some bloke opened his car door just as I was passing and I could swerve enough to avoid it, clipped the door and went over the bars, got up and my thumb was pointing in a strange way, the driver drive me to A&E whilst my mate pushed my bike. The x-rayed it after putting it back in, no damage just swelling, riding home was fun after.
Scratched brake lever, small chip on the top tube, and gilet damaged. Helmet needs replacing,
Looks like no cycling for a week or 2 just running.

Heal fast F400.
No riding on the MTB for me today. Dentist opened up dodgy tooth, he removed some of the old rubber plug, after much reaming and tugging the last bit was stuck in, so after rinsing the hole out with bleach he's filled the hole with solvent to dissolve the remnants of the old plug and calcium carbonate to further bleach the tooth and kill any germs left. Back in two weeks for round 2. Tooth feels rather sore after the hammering and scraping and drilling assault it had today.
