I tried my old dumb Tacx trainer on zwift and it was utter garbage, the estimated power was miles out and fluctuated massively so I'm looking at the wahoo snap.

Is there any reason to consider any other (wheel on) smart trainer?
I've got laptop, a cadence & speed sensor and a HRM, is that everything that I'd need? any other top tips?

You'll need an ant+ usb dongle. £12 eBay. Unless all the other bits are Bluetooth version.

I run the Snap as do loads of others. Great things. They're at the expensive end for wheel on, plus £55 more if you want to run 142*12 etc as they only come with qr kit as standard. I love the Snap though myself.

Ah, the dongle. I've got one here

I'll be using my old road bike which is QR, this is one of the main reasons for going for a wheel on trainer, the bike is 2x7 so putting it on a wheel off trainer will mean that I'll need to faff about with either bodging a 7 sp cassette onto a 10 / 11 speed freehub or changing the whole drivetrain to 2x10

Excellent. I don't know any riders who've not enjoyed the experience of Zwift.

I'm desperate to get back on there

You need luck and patience. Only place you'll find them is Wahoo and it's only as and when they're built, they're released then sold in a day.

The only thing that you can do is keep checking the wahoo website, the stock seems to be changing every couple of days.

ok, ill keep an eye out on it

I know I asked this before but, if I get the KICKR Core will it need the RPM Cadence RPM speed censors????? or are they built in, pretty sure they are.

A bit off track but see a company is developing a dongle that will allow our Peloton bike to run Zwift without the need for hacking the OS.
Look forward to that when it happens, get the best of both worlds then...

you'll probably need a cadence sensor, need is a strong word, you don't NEED one.... but sometimes it's nice to know your cadence.

I’ll look at the £700 one, the £480 has got to be a scam, there £699 new and there are a few scams going on with them.

I said that about a van that was advertised for about £2.5k lower than the equivalent vans were selling, it had v. low mileage and was imaculate. The Mrs insisted that we had to go and see it and it was exactly as advertised, so we bought it there and then. It turned out that I hated driving it so sold it a few months later for a 2k profit.

Can't see any reason why not.
