They look as bad in the flesh as they do in pictures.

I spoke to a chap who'd not long bought one and he thought it was great, bit different but great. Maybe he hadn't had it long enough. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Tried one when they came out...

Engine surprised me... Really good... The rest of the bike not so much. But it was better than I expected, just not up to the standards of the competition I felt... It had a strangely long reach from the seat to bars too... The auto drop suspension (at low speeds or a standstill) was first of its type I believe, and a really useful device... Many Ducati's and BMW's have it fitted now too so Harley were onto something there.

Didn't they get unexpectedly good press reviews!?

Yes, in so much as that everyone was expecting them to be absolutely terrible... When they turned up and they weren't absolutely terrible, merely not quite as good as the established competition, all the reviews were "unexpectedly good"... But still not as good as its competitors, which of course have all moved on since the Harley was launched anyway now...

You took a punt on the Indian, is it not worth being a bit left field and getting a test ride on one of these?

I did test ride one, a while back... Like I said...

I thought the engine was superb, the rest of the bike not so great, not terrible, but ergonomics not great and it just wasn't as good as its competitors... 30mins on it wasn't a lot, but it was enough to rule it out...

I also test rode the Indian some time before buying one... Within 5mins on the Indian I KNEW I needed one sometime... 45mins later I didn't want to hand the keys back, and spent 3yrs working out how I was going to justify fitting one in my garage!

I felt like that after riding the Honda CB thingy that @Le_Fromage_Grande has, I was totally blown away when I rode it. I did try and buy one the next day but didn't quite work out

I really like my CB, though after 2 and a half years I still can't get used to changing up with the quick shifter and I'm convinced the gear box is going to shit itself one day.

A bigger fuel tank, a comfortable seat and less weird styling would make it perfect.

Very little "New" stuff interests me, but I'd probably buy that CF Moto 500 4 cylinder thing or that ridiculously good looking Benda and see how far they get until they blow up.

The quick shifter on my Hypermotard was about as good as it gets. On the Super Duke it's not so good, I tend to ride around like it's an old fashioned bike with none of the modern farkles, even though it's got a full suite. I think I prefer to be engaged with the bike.

The only vehicle I own from this century is my $1 ShitBox Honda Accord. The others are '75, '78, 83, 95, '96 & '99. Apparently my cut off is the late 1900's

£15k on a new bike would probably see me on an electric scooter, the best and fastest one that's available and with the most luggage space.
I'd use it for shopping.

Bank 10 and spend 5 on a bike and some new kit.
