I can’t do a manual box any more, too painful. I manage the ones in the sprinters a couple of times a week but it’s a completely different driving position and if I had to do any more than I’ve done so far it wouldn’t be possibleCousin Jack wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 11:46 am Modern autoboxes work really well, I wouldn't even consider a manual. Stick to the service intervals, and change the filters/fluids on time or miles, whichever comes first.
I would not be concerned about the small engine, 116bhp is enough for most tasks, 150 might be nice but is it worth the extra?
My advice would be to drive both, if the cheap one feels good, go for it.
You bought a Kamiq?Noggin wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 12:13 pm [

If I’m ever in a position to buy an old sports car (MX5!) I do hope I’ll be able to still drive a manual, it it’s not possible every day up and down the mountain
But I’ve gone for a 1.5 and completely different car(well, not completely!!)
I have!! Well, just waiting on two bits of paper to send for the bit of finance. I'm hoping I might be able to pick it up on Friday, if not the weekend and getting to work will be a bit of a challenge!! But TBF, will probably be next weekBigjawa wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 1:33 pmYou bought a Kamiq?Noggin wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 12:13 pm

I really wouldn't want an old auto MX5 - I guess a modern one would be ok, but I'd prefer an old (but not pop up lights) manual! High days and holidays I can manage in an manual - everyday I can'tBigjawa wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 1:33 pm One of my mates has an auto MX5. It's crap. Horrible old 4 speed JDM auto box.
