Look on the bright side. No kids under 7 will be assessed or considered for access to the service. (The Tavistock GIDS unit was taking 3 year olds!). It's actually (sort of) progress. The Times and Telegraph imply treatment = medical intervention like drugs and surgery and it may just be consultation.

Zoom, the video communications company whose name became synonymous with remote work during the pandemic, has ordered staff back to the office.

A few days ago the Crooked House pub in the West Midlands burned down, shortly after a change of ownership. Apparently the new owners wanted to change the use of the building. How coincidental.

Then a couple of days later the bulldozers moved in and the site is now a pile of rubble, with whatever clues as to what caused or started the fire doubtless buried deep under the rubble. How coincidental.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-66442399

The whole thing stinks to high heaven and I hope the new owners are forced to rebuild the pub brick by brick.

Don't be such a nimby. Pubs like that only attract old racists, we need to build more houses for immigrants.

I've read this 4 times.

UPS drivers get $170,000 a year.

I might come out of retirement and go live there :D

It's danger money! According to CNN lorry/delivery driving is the most dangerous job in the USA - more people die on the job than in any other industry. (It's not just down to diet either :D )

Mainly road accidents, poorly maintained vehicles, pressure of hitting delivery time targets etc but, at a guess, they have to go into dodgy areas too and they're carrying stuff that costs money. They probably even deliver to ZRX61

I think also American salaries are higher than the UK generally and that figure quoted is for the package with salary being 2/3 of that. It sounds like decent money but nowhere near as good as Pimlico plumbers have it.

Yeah, the headline figure is the package, not the salary.

If it's like most other USA jobs it won't include any paid leave either.

Two of our most senior people live miles from work, i.e. Manchester and Chichester. These are also the people that introduced our working from home arrangements. Both moved away shortly after lockdown and continue with the (unnecessary?) WFH to maintain and future-proof our robustness during any unforeseen forthcoming events such as another pandemic.

There are a lot of critics of this scheme now as levels of things like IT support have suffered and the cost of empty rooms and buildings is becoming increasingly hard to justify. Plus the unions are citing unfairness to the lower paid as they are in roles such as front of house and are still onsite full time and still cop for travel costs etc. Cant see it changing though as the SMT turkeys certainly wont vote for Xmas!
