This is becoming more of an issue, the authorities are more bothered with 'not enough rape accusations result in conviction', then the feminists and extremists kick off over it, when in fact, maybe it's because they're false. Not enough is done about those who lie about an assault, the lives destroyed by lies and false accusations is unacceptable.

As far as I understand it, the victim didn't make a false accusation, she was raped but someone else falsely ID'd the man who was convicted

Then, when he voluntarily agreed to take part in an identity parade, the victim picked him out.

Assuming that is true, it seems very odd, given that he in no way resembled the photo-fit which you would assume was created with the help of the victim.

Well, to a point. He didn't actually have to put it to a Parliamentary vote, but he did and the total number of Conservative votes against was....2 (Labour 84, Lib Dems 52). So, either the Conservatives swallowed the lies and a chunk of Labour didn't or, just maybe, they were gagging for a bit of a shindig alongside the USA too.

Oddly enough I was reading Douglas Murray in the (v right wing) Spectator today (I usually disagree with him on everything!) on why he thought, and still thinks, it was the right thing to do. Interesting read. Focuses on the treatment of the Kurds by Saddam and on his visits there with Labour's Ann Clwyd).

I've always thought that. He concealed his true intentions and went along for the ride because it got him to the position of power he wanted. Had John Smith not succumbed to a heart attack it would have been a very different Labour party that came to power. I can't imagine JS ever countenancing the UK agreeing with and participating in the invasion of Iraq.

Goodness knows there are enough disgruntled to rouse and certainly enough issues to pin one's colours to.

Farage is a cartoon character, I don't think he has very much of a loyal following at all, but he understands the working class and he consistently outperforms the party of the working class. He's just won a victory for every working person out there even if they don't understand what it is, he's performed on multiple levels, many will think he's great just because he's got some rich people sacked, whilst the thinkers will realise it's a bit more than that and see it properly.

If Starmer had balls like Farage (and got rid of that wretched shouty dim-witted sidekick) then he'd clean up.
