Incredible catalogue of songs. You're right about him keeping a low profile though. How many people could name the lyric writer of 'Heard it through the grapevine'? I hope he had the right sort of contract - that song alone should have kept him very comfortably off.

I know you find it funny and worthy of a Darwin Award but there's always two sides to a story. In 2018 a mate of mine with whom I'd shared a few adventures emigrated to New Zealand, six months later he was dead. You're wearing the best protective kit money can buy, you're the most experienced and well trained rider there has ever been. Unfortunately there's a chinook helicopter with a truck underneath that accidentlty fell on you and killed you.

Anyway, my freind was Darren Myers, have a Google and find out what happened to him.

The difference is your mate didn't ignore all sorts of advice like Mr Sands did. They probably won't find much of Sands after the bears, coyotes, mountain lions, bobcats, ravens & vultures etc get through with him.

He was a huge part of my growing up. I used to love it when he introduced Barry Sheene races.
