I've broken the internet, I may be in the dog house for some time.
All I did was unplug a power supply and plug it in elsewhere and the twatting thing won't connect. I'm now going to find out how good support is for a local fttp ISP, not a great start as they only answer phones in office hours.
Tomorrow I find out how well I can work with my laptop tethered through my mobile and by the evening my kids will be complaining their 15GB limits have run out, this could get expensive.

I'd normally suggest turning it off then on, but it seems you've already done that.

Try unplugging it for few minutes and plugging it back in

ADSL or Fibre?

Sometimes it is the power supply that goes tits up. You may just need to replace the router. I had that one time after moving a router. Bought a new one at Argos for £30 and stuck the credentials in it and away we went again. Took 10 minutes to sort out.

Me, I've walked 3k's with the dog in the woods, now home for a short time of prayer, then out to help a parishioner sort out bank accounts after her husbands demise, so she wants a witness/helping hand in getting accounts transferred etc... Then to take a Holy Communion service at a home group, rather lovely time with dedicated believers.

Home to collect dog, then fetch wife and we walk dog again. Home to cook dinner and then Compline 9pm and doing the cleaning after that.

All other options here are slow fttc getting 40Mb at the most, this one is 300 on its lowest setting.

I tried the usual stuff of leaving it off for a while but the usual didn't work. I got an email back saying that powering it on by plugging it in sometimes causes problems and I should try the reset button, I hadn't seen that as it's screwed to the wall 10" above the floor with the reset underneath. While I was down there I saw a power switch so I used that instead of the plug and it worked!
All is back to normal now, if Ikea can work out how to turn a kitchen plan into an order then all my current IT woes are solved.

Just had a call from Mrs. Gremlin. The family bus, our faithful 62 plate Honda CR-V, has developed a bit of a judder around 1200 rpm. Disappears as you get past it. Started a few weeks back, doesn't seem to be getting any worse, but took it to the local garage a coupel of weeks back who pointed us on to an auto transmission specialist. They seem to think they might know what the problem is (I'm not sure from the call what exactly that is), but they gave a finger-in-the-air guesstimate of about £3k. :o Looks like the old girl's days are numbered.

On the plus side just been told the Gremlinette has been awarded an external prize for her sixth form work in terms of sustainability, with a cash prize for her school.
The irony is that she still can't figure what goes in the recycling bin.

Got a huge amount of jobs done yesterday, including me and the boy running a 100m ethernet cable out of one end of the cottage (through an 18" thick 400yr old wall) all the way to the granny flat so it's got broadband hardwired. Then I did loads more dad stuff, fixing creaky doors, replaced some hinges on a wardrobe, put a TV on the wall, etc.

I pointed out to everyone that it's a good job I'm a tooley goon and can do all these things without having to pay anyone.

After that, down to the pub 100m away for mixed-grills all round and a pint of Guinness.

After a few days of trying I have finally got IKEA to take my money for a new kitchen, I was fed up with them but they seem to be the only supplier selling what I want.
I'm just hoping the new worktops I installed a few months back still fit after I change the cabinets. I'm looking forward to the sort of carpentry but really can't be bothered with the electric wiring issues I'm expecting.

Just back from a swim in the sea. I wasn't looking forward to it but it was OK, not really cold but just as wet as normal.

We've had a lot of rain recently and a lot more this morning with more to come this afternoon and unfortunately my boat's bilge pump decided a few days ago to stop working. The boat is still swinging on a mooring in the bay so if there're no lifts around I have to swim out to her to empty her out.

While there I got the bilge pump working but the automatic side of the switch is dead so I guess it's a new float switch needed. They're all cheap and nasty bits of kit it seems and I really need a decent dependable one but that'll be for the new year as the boat is coming out for the winter next week.

I've not yet seen an electric bilge pump aimed at the small boat market that isn't complete tat. The branded ones are just as bad as the no names, just a lot more expensive. 'Tis frustrating.

Agreed, I've bought a couple and they seem to stop working for no apparent reason, I thought one was buggered but it started again for no apparent reason as I was shaking it about. I wanted one that I could just throw in and let it work if the worst should happen and my boat springs a leak or a sea cock fails or something, but they're all shite.

I don't worry about springing a leak or sea cocks failing, those things are pretty much never going to happen without some outside influence.

My problem is that when it rains, the boat is just a big bucket floating in the sea. When the bilge pump is operating OK there'll be no more than 4 or 5 litres sitting in the bilge (which is basically a hollow skeg). It should be less of a bucket next year as I'm putting a hard roof over the back this winter with canvas drop down sides and back which will help considerably. I'm thinking of having a go at making my own bilge pump. Just need a decent sized ball bearing I reckon.

The 'more to come this afternoon' rain has arrived - it's throwing it down and looks like I'll have to go swimming again tomorrow. Deep joy.

My boat hatch leaks when it rains, but it happens so infrequently that I cba to do anything about it.

First world problems I suppose, having to swim out to your boat to empty it out, it must beat a winter in Lancs, I'm enjoying it atm but I suspect after two or three of them I'd be happy to swap with you
