Well today has went from bad to worse, Locky is in the Royal in an induced coma on a ventilator and had to be jump started 3 times yesterday but the docs aren't giving much hope.
On top of that, I've just found out another guy I used to knock about with has had a leg amputated and is in a bad way about it.
Starting to wonder what's going to happen next.

DX Express. The only company that make Evri look good. Not that is not true. UPS also but DX. I get a delivery window 17:41 - 19:41. Fine as wife and myself were at home. No knock at door, no ring of bell not attempt delivery card. 5 minutes after my delivery window is over the item is scanned back into DX warehouse in Edinburgh. 40 miles away from me. It takes 20 minutes from my house to the A1. Another 15-20 to the Edinburgh bypass then whatever to drive round the city, all traffic dependent. Not the first time this has happened but i think they only have one item for this town and the driver cant be arsed wasting 40 - 50 minute driving in from the A1 and back again. Alfred was my delivery driver today. Fiver Alfred is off tomorrow and some other poor sod gets to do his work. I say poor sod but he may be another lazy bastard than cant be arsed driving in for one delivery.

I've just had a parcel delivered by Evri. He knocked on the door and in the 10 to 15 seconds it took for me to get to the door and open it he was already back at his van, presumably hoping to claim it was undeliverable. Maybe they're on a tight schedule but they should at least wait for a few seconds after knocking on the door before running away.

At least yours got the right address. Multiple times the Evri clowns dump my stuff random places, take a photo, then inform me it's been delivered.Saga Lout wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 6:00 pm I've just had a parcel delivered by Evri. I dread them 'delivering' anything, they are the very worst of all the couriers by a long way.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Was on the Racetorx Facebook page and was asking if their throttle spacer kit was available for my Duke 690 as it wasn't listed in their drop-down. Got a response that the ones for 1290 KTMs fitted my bike. As there were no less than 6 1290 KTMs in the drop down list I asked again - which 1290? The response came back - Ask the Manufacturer.
I replied thus: So you don't represent Racetorx, you're just some random Internet guy who doesn't actually know the answer?
I thought that was quite polite, all things considered.

If you sent a ball of the hardest substance in the universe, wrapped up in Cobham armour, they'll find a way to damage it.
Anyway, what's pissing me off is those new lids on plastic bottles that stay attached. Its easier to drink out of the bottle if the lid comes off, and they are harder to close.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
I was thinking of having a rant about that, it winds me up as well. I pursued this with St Helens, who make the goat's milk I buy, and they said it was because of an EU directive. It's all about reducing plastic waste and recycling more. Apparently. Look up 'tethered closures' in Google.
So, for good or bad we've left the EU and we're still following directives? Does JRM know about this? Is this really 'taking back control?'
The other thing is that directives do not have legally binding force. The EU will push member states to apply the directive, but the member state can tell the EU to go forth and multiply.
So why the fuck?

Because it's easier (cheaper ) to have one bottle type across a market region than two I suppose.

But to the best of my knowledge, St Helens don't export to the EU.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 8:22 pmBecause it's easier (cheaper ) to have one bottle type across a market region than two I suppose.

Yeah but they probably don't have a bespoke bottle type just for them either.

It's a cardboard Tetris type brick with St Helens decoration and aplastic screw on/off closure. I'm sure they buy in tons of branded containers from the manufacturer. So maybe the brick manufacturer is specifying the closure, but I'd say it's more likely that St Helens do. In which case they could request an old style screw cap, not the tethered variety.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 8:24 pm Yeah but they probably don't have a bespoke bottle type just for them either.
It might be a jolly jape to email JRM coming over all Gammon to complain about our loss of sovereignty in this regard...

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
S'just the modern world of slim margins and global solutions innit?
"They" have probably done their sums are worked out it's cheaper to have one type of tooling rather than two. St. Helens, or whoever else, will of course have branding and colours of their own, but all the machines which make the caps/bottles/cartons and then handle them in the factory are common to thousands of brands using meeeeeelions of bottles abd cartons. It just ain't worth it for them to have "EU" and "UK" variants.
Expect this to be the norm, I think a few people might have mentioned this before brexit.
P.S. only a slob drinks direct from the carton anyway

I like those lids, they don't fall off and roll across the floor.
