Nah, nothing as exotic as that - it's a Beta Spider (targa top) with a n/a 2 litre engine. I'm currently in the latter stages of rebuilding the original engine in the UK, which has a target power output of around 160 bhp. But first I have to get the car (which is in France) running reliably on a s/h engine so I can bring it back to the UK for the engine swap. There's a long back story to all this, but I'm not sure anyone would want to hear it.

This is the car back when it was a runner:

Well wear.

How do you make an Audi appear from nowhere?
-Leave a space between you and the car in front ;)

Needs to be a big space for a Q7. :D

I've pissed. Lots.

As I have for the last week or so.

I have on-going issues with bladder/prostate, but the last week has, literally, taken the piss. Constant feeling of wanting a piss, taking umpteen trips to the loo, with varying results.

Might have to make an appointment with the urologist as this has been a bit of a downturn.

Bit of a snooze, then a late bacon sarnie on the verandah.
Now considering a wander down to the really very lovely beach for a swim, bit more of a snooze, wander to the next beach for lunch.

Later probably go to the excellent local curry shop, see if the local celebrities are in (sir cliff and bonnie Tyler :D)

Fookin ell the beer is cheap out here too.

I'm turning into Yorick! ;)

My mate had a Q7 4.2 petrol (I think) for a shortish time. He said he could just about afford the fuel, but not the tyres. Go easy with the loud pedal!

Finished plumbing in two new radiators in the living room, only about a billion solder joints to solder (and so far only one leak which was sorted yesterday). Central heating has been repressurised and fired up, now waiting for any new leaks and then rebalance the system which is a complete mare. Also following the ritual of not putting any tools away until the system is working properly.

Today i have cut my hair. The wife said I was going to end up looking like Nigel Havers if I didn't get my hair cut. The clippers were out within minutes. Then I made a Cumberland sossie sandwich. And then I got the lawn mower out ready for me to cut the rear lawn, but a much needed siesta must come first as today has been particularly hectic so far!

I had a Beta Coupe, the monocoque rotted until the only thing holding the front of the car to the back was the roof, it looked okay from the outside, apart from being a bit saggy in the middle. The engine (and gearbox) went into a MK2 Escort, which was a better place for it, I don't remember it being a difficult job.

I think 140bhp is more likely than 160 from a 2.0 twin cam, mine certainly felt like 140.

The after effects of this old covid bollox has left me not fit for shit.

It's taken me 2 days to remove skirting and a wooden floor. I work for about 15 minutes before giving up in a breathless, sweaty mess, take a break for half an hour, then have another go. Rinse and repeat. It's a very unsatisfactory way of working,I hate taking breaks when I've started something.

At this rate I'm going to be at it for bloody weeks, unless I stop being as weak as water.

Don't beat yourself up (well, you wouldn't have the energy anyway), as it fucked me for a good while. I go to the gym around 5 times a week, along with walking the dog and other suchlike, so figured I was reasonably fit and healthy and would laugh it off. Then I got the 'Rona, felt shit for week, felt better and after a week of feeling ok went back to the gym to do a bootcamp class. Less than halfway through I was on the floor, breathless, shaking like a leaf and unable to function and generally looking like a right twat. It took me, I reckon, about four weeks to get back to anywhere near normal fitness and even then would get a weird 'catching' feeling in my lungs.

'Orrible fucking illness.

I went to physio first thing, had to scrape snow off the car :D :D Bloody good job I didn't rely on the bike for transport!! LOL LOL

Had a good chat, with the physio cos I'm peeved (well, that's not the word, but it'll have to do) that I'm still not back to how good I was before the knee break. So I've had a 'not quite' lecture about it and I'm going to try not to worry!

Then went to get some winter boots at Decathlon - they don't have any in stock!! LOL I did mention that it's snowing in resort, so it would be handy to have some and she said "they'll be here soon"

Back home and I've made squash and feta tarts, red onion and goats cheese tarts and bakewells. Ginger cake was yesterday. Might get around to making some carrot cake later. (All cos I'm visiting my rehab mates tomorrow, so want to take them some treats :D :D )

Now, in an effort to keep moving and stop my feet feeling like blocks of ice, I'm about to bleach and redye my hair!! LOL

Such a rock n roll lifestyle!! LOL :bblonde:

Been feeling rather meh too. Enough to just do a Covid test (only got 3 left). Negative. So I've either got a cold or my jab has had a delayed action effect (10 days now). :(

I must have been really lucky. I mean, lack of taste and smell for 2.5 years is a bit annoying (it comes back sometimes, but not fully) but I never had any of the symptoms most people seem to have had. I've had it twice that I know and 3 vaccines - the 4th should have been in March but being broken negated that (needed it for work) and no one seems to be pushing it much now?

I had an HPE prior to the Spider, and that was showing advanced signs of rot, so I hastily got rid. The Spider had been Ziebarted from new and (astonishingly) has never been welded, other than to fit a replacement wing damaged in a 5mph accident. At its last Controle Technique the tester did mention some non-serious corrosion, so I suspect its unblemished record will end soon.

I'm aiming for 160 bhp as I have a pair of DCOE45 Webers ready to go on, the head has been ported, it has new 10:1 pistons, the flywheel & crank lightened and balanced and it has a 4-2-1 exhaust ready to go on. This is the engine that's being built in the UK. The one in the car at present is of entirely unknown provenance.

After 20 years of marriage I have found out my wife’s family are multi millionaires.

After the cultural revolution one half of the family got to Hong Kong. The other half couldn’t get out and stayed in mainland China.

The family in Hong Kong own and developed discovery bay.

Name that company😀
