Agreed, more checks can never be a bad thing. However, if this bloke is a refugee with a history of violence, as yet there is no indication of how far back that history extends. People are just making assumptions that he had this history of violence before he came to the UK.

Not really, as in a pub, you pay your money, you get a drink. You don't then get banned from all pubs for getting a drink each time you get one, like you do with gambling, if you're good, you'll find you're banned from all outlets. Pubs don't lure you into a false sense of winning, taking your money, making you feel like you're about to win, taking more money from people who aren't thinking straight. At least in a pub, you'll get a drink each time you buy one and most people really do know when they've had enough.

I don't think the Metrological Office has anything to do with the Metropolitan Police, but you know, anything goes I suppose, I'll assume you didn't look at the link.

Anyway, back onto the previous subject which you've confused the Police with, I didn't make the claim, a scientist did. It was on an interview on Talk Radio, I can't remember the presenter, I had a look through the podcasts but it's too time consuming.
