As I've mentioned I've experienced my first ocular migraine (with migraine headache), so yesterday evening my son brought me a dozen red roses, a bottle of vodka, a bottle of diet coke, two packs of coffee and some Pizza Hut cheesy triangles. Listen and learn fellas, listen and learn

A lovely sweet gesture from your son. Though I'm not sure that all that caffeine and cheese is the best way to avoid migraines ?Trinity765 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 6:38 am As I've mentioned I've experienced my first ocular migraine (with migraine headache), so yesterday evening my son brought me a dozen red roses, a bottle of vodka, a bottle of diet coke, two packs of coffee and some Pizza Hut cheesy triangles. Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
I can't look at alcohol at the moment and I'm avoiding caffeine/chocolate/cheese. I've not actually managed to talk to my GP yet and I've been trying since Monday. I spoke to 111 who sent me to the eye hospital where other causes were ruled out.Jody wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 7:28 amA lovely sweet gesture from your son. Ocular migraines are cool, if you learn to just sit down, close your eyes and go with the free light show.
They're a bit of a bummer if you're driving / riding though.

Sounds like a rather complicated treatment for migraine but I might give it a go. Are the roses a vital part of the medication?Trinity765 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 6:38 am As I've mentioned I've experienced my first ocular migraine (with migraine headache), so yesterday evening my son brought me a dozen red roses, a bottle of vodka, a bottle of diet coke, two packs of coffee and some Pizza Hut cheesy triangles. I agree. You can actually sit and watch them in wonder. The first one started with a blind spot in the centre of my vision followed my an expanding psychedelic, full circle pattern. Very typical of ocular migraine.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 8:38 am Ocular migraines are cool, if you learn to just sit down, close your eyes and go with the free light show.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
I suffered from migraines all my life. Really bad.
But since I retired 7 years ago, I've only had 1.
And I eat lots of cheese and chocolate.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
As you say, everyone is different. I get migraines (ocular? lines in my eyes, can't see to drive) and it's always frustrating when well meaning folks say "oh, just stop caffiene, cheese, chocolate" etc etc.
I don't get them often but there is never a connecting theme of things I've eaten or drunk. In fact I'd often eat chocolate, drink coke and probably other 'junk' food (pasties from Greggs were a good one!) after as they'd take away the 'ill' feeling!!
Weird, but, everyone is different. And at our age, most of us have worked out if there's a connection from food or drink!! LOL
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!!

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Amazon.
A few weeks ago I ordered three of the same item, they were delivered on three separate days over a period of about a month. This morning I got an email saying Amazon was processing a refund for one of them. I contacted Amazon to find out what was going on:
Sorry, system error. Normally we'd ask for a charge back but my manager says keep the refund.
It's only £3.91 but still.
