More than once yes, I think I've had both on 4-5 times each. But I'm settled on the one you hate now, as long as the finish holds up.
Happy new bike day.... WTF, what do you mean it's a Yamaha ???

Fair enough
I don’t really hate it, just prefer the other as you say it’s your bike and you like it! You’re also seeing it in the flesh

If the take the same exhaust, what is the difference between one of these and a MT-09 then? Is it just cosmetics?

Not quite, forks, shock, geometry. They're very much a basis on a theme of course

After spending 3 hours riding with a mate yesterday on the MTB and chatting about Morzine next year, in simple terms, any exhaust will be the difference between me and my boy doing Morzine, or not... hence.. the exhaust doesn't exist.
The Yam will get plenty of fun at Portimao. But new shiny bits.... nah.

Can't argue with that. I thought about swapping my can for another with a baffle but it makes no sense when I still have the std one.weeksy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 9:08 amAfter spending 3 hours riding with a mate yesterday on the MTB and chatting about Morzine next year, in simple terms, any exhaust will be the difference between me and my boy doing Morzine, or not... hence.. the exhaust doesn't exist.

Could argue on the looks from if the std can was a monster but in reality, it (they) are absolutely fine

Indeed i don't need one. There's many many other things it would be better spent on at the moment and that's fineHarry wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 4:50 amIt's not like you need one either, it's just about choosing what to spend your spare cash on.weeksy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 9:08 am

The good news is... i may actually take the Yam out for 10 miles today... Just waiting to see how the roads do by about 2pm and the temperature, then potentially, a bit of a ride if the scaphoid allows.

Did you manage to get out?
I've not been out on mine since swapping the std can back, it's pretty much rained solidly.

Nah, forecast was showers, which never came, but I did a cycle race indoors instead.Claude wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 4:27 pmweeksy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 10:56 amIndeed i don't need one. There's many many other things it would be better spent on at the moment and that's fine

Tomorrow and Thurs look much drier.

I have all but decided to sell my triumph and buy one of these before next spring. Looks like Yamaha have sorted the throttle response compared to the MT-09 but have you considered, or felt the need for a reflash? It seems like a fairly popular mod on the 'FZ09' forum...?

The earlier FZ and MT models were dubious on fuelling.bevvo wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 4:57 pm I have all but decided to sell my triumph and buy one of these before next spring. I think mine is silky smooth to be honest mate.

Ah good. That's one spend less to worry about then. I'm probably going to go for a used yellow one. I have a pic of one as my background which usually means a purchase is imminent.
Like you, I have reservations about the black exhaust looking very second hand, very quickly, but other than that I'm pretty sold on it.

The exhaust still troubles me but I love the bike itself

I reckon a pair of high level pipes would look good on these, and not the short AR jobs.
