I get ya.
It's still worth having tho'
You can use it on pretty much any bike without having to buy the specific ABBA kit for the model.
Well, i bought the kit... makes sense to have it and indeed to even use it for this. I can put it back together in a few mins enough to get the stand off and the other one with kit fitted.... but will remove any "ooooh arrrrgghhh" moments.

That reminds me, I have a brand new unopened Abba stand with the Mt-07 kit inside!

More stuff to be cast aside in the loft of plenty!
Could be interested in the stand without the fitting kit if you decide to flog it, I sold mine when I got the Griso 'cos they don't do a kit for it but it would come in handy for the Triumph seeing as the centre stand is held together by a piece of threaded bar and 2 jubilee clips

I'm probably going to keep it. I did think about returning it, but people always say how good they are, so may as well keep it now is been paid for. Cheers anyway.

@Taipan and everyone will feel good.
Bloke "I can offer you £50 cash today"
Me "No thanks mate, i'd rather keep it than take £50"
Bloke "OK, i'll go £55"
Me "no, that's not enough, you're being silly"
Bloke "OK, how much is your best price"
Me "£115"
Bloke "but it's a buy it now for £95"
Me "yeah but not to idiots who offer me £50"

Easily worth it at £115! I'd have it off you but sadly they didn't make the high seat to fit the pre-2018s...

Well the good news is, the nut comes off the end. I always worry with things like that, it's bloody tight, 110Nm apparently. But it's undone.
So just waiting for Abbastands to send the footpeg kit now and swingarm to arrive.

So the swingarm arrived and i thought about the ABBA footrest kit.... Then

Created this....
Some minutes later.... the Swingarm was out

This is where things all went a bit hot, sweaty and wrong.
Due to the tolerances being so tight i couldn't get the other swingarm in.... I pulled, pushed, swore and sweated !!!! No good.
In the end i had to go back to the strap choice.

Reason is that the swingarm goes through 2 plates which mount to the frame, so with the straps in place i could loosen the 8mm hex bolts and get a little bit more clearance. Sadly i was pretty damn grumpy by this stage and soaked with sweat lol. But it worked.
LAter.... much later.

It's all back together, torqued up and the nice pretty swingarm is installed.
I can't put into words how much i hate the chain retention system on this bike.... it's just bloody horrible !!!!!

Are you saying that with the bike supported by the lower part of the frame there was so much flex inwards that the the swinger wouldn't fit and only by supporting it higher up did the frame spars widen enough to fit it in?

The frame spars only support on the inside. The outside is a plate setup., these are bolted into the bottom of the frame. We're talking fractions of a mm too tight to go in unless i loosened. It wasn't flex as such... just really really tight fitting. As the footrest kit was also mounted to these, the ABBA may have been pushing it in slightly.

Good to hear, but on the plus side, at least you didn't have to break and re-rivet the chain as you would on an R6/R1 etc , although of course they've got an arguably better (IMO) chain tensioning setup and higher quality swinging arm than the MT07 so this whole episode probably wouldn't have happened in the first place

Did you get some threadlock for the adjusters?

Went out, nothing fell off....
Good news is.... the seat is much much nicer...
Bad news is.... i blew that buyer out lol.
It won't shock anyone to hear that i debated chopping the MT07 after this swingarm, chain tensioner etc fiasco. But riding it again today, i just do really like it... it's a brilliant little thing and just what i need.
Build quality in parts does really irritate me a bit... but what can you expect for a bike that cost <£7000 new.
