Brown seat must still be on order.

Strictly speaking I don't think motos are allowed on the mountain. There is a company doing electric bike rides up and over, but noisy bastards aren't allowed :( But yes, I'd love a lightweight off roader for the out of season with no snow months :D :D The actual roads are ok, but up on the top they are stones/rubble packed down, but big enough for a car/small truck :D :D

A mate of mine bought an Africa Twin when I was away in Grenoble and I hadn't seen it. Of course, when he got it I did say 'Gissa go mate' but he wasn't keen.

We had this text conversation yesterday, proper made me giggle (he was heading up to the Col d'Iseran, hence the first comment!) -

I did forget briefly and did touch the bike, but he and his wife were still on it and Tim had the key and controls!! So I got away with that!!

Been paid to read a book mostly. The van I should be driving was making unspecced clonking noises so I had to arrange a mechanic to come and look at it. About 5 minutes of phone calls and a dozen emails later it's be diagnosed as usable.

It's been a hard day.

My Mum took a turn for the worse last night and is now on end of life drugs at home. There was also a change over of live-in carers today at such a critical time. I already had this week booked off work and it's nice to not have the stress of that.

I've told my immediate family, but not my Mum's bother - the thought of telling him seems to make it more real.

Hard days. Be strong for your mum and look after yourself too.

Been out playing on the bike again, mainly on unclassified roads. Bugger me, we really are heading towards being a 3rd world country, I don't expect much on tiny little roads but they look like they haven't had any maintenance for 20 years, and another 20 will see the tarmac disappear completely and they will just become an unsurfaced track. I don't mind the ones with grass growing in the middle, but some had a 4 inch high berm of mud and gravel down the centre.

When my wife was ill, I wanted to know how I'd know we were in the end game. Everyone I asked simply said "You'll know."

I wasn't sure how I was going to know but then one morning, I knew.

As Skub said, look after yourself. It's harder to look after others when you don't take care of yourself.

Today I overslept. So used to my wife's alarm waking me but as she's off for 6 weeks she isn't setting it, so it's her fault. :D Finish my cuppa then make my way in...
