Rode to Towcester today. Bloody windy and surprisingly cold. Stopped off at the super sausage. The queue was out the door, so I went home and had breakfast at 11:45. Not a day as expected.
But, I'm a ride left to the dealer for the first service.

I've got to be in the mood for a bike ride, if I ain't, it's a cup of tea in the garden.

As I said I can't believe I've got my jacket lining in, in June

I've also had a look at the long range forecast for the rest of June and sounds like a repeat of the end of May for the end of June with showers and rain for when I do my Cornwall trip. Praying that it changes. Weather's been absolutely shit this year, well since last June really

Been saying its gonna be dry tomorrow morning for the last few days so was thinking of heading Bury St Edmunds way. Now it's changed and showers forecast all over the shop. Fuck this fucking weather.
There's a chance I might be able to get out Sunday potentially.
Reckon I've no hope of a dry trip to Cornwall next weekend

What a shit show.

The forecasts are struggling so much lately! I make plans for sunny days that turn out to be wet and end up wasting days that turn out to be sunny...

Decent 2 hr ride this morning but bugger is it cold for June still. Wore base layer, T, lining and Jacket and still wasn't overly warm.
Going to swap back to Castrol racing chain lube. I've been using the XCP for a good few months now and it flings too much for me. Lubed it 2 days ago and only sparingly on the inside of the chain and still getting fling on the surface of the tyre. Not loads but I don't like any. Found even using small amounts results in needing to wipe the tyre after a few miles. No more fling after that, but yeah psychologically it's not what I want. Pity as the lube seems really good and gear changes after lubing are buttery smooth.

I went out this morning from 07:00 to 09:00ish this morning, temperature was okay, but I had the heated grips on sometimes, roads were quiet, but it was getting windy towards the end of my ride. It's now windy and cold here.

So 9th - 22nd August will be fabulous here in the UK as I will be in France where it is likley to be either too hot to do anything or belting it down with thunderstorms. Alternatively it might be nice, but I won't have a motorbike with me.
Glass half full though eh?

You are not wrong. In a country not know for it's summers, this one is taking the piss. Took the boy to school this morning and it was 10c, blowing a gale and pissing with rain. Booked the Cornwall trip in June thinking that's a good a chance as any of getting some decent weather and not a chance. Best we can hope for is showers but with a possibility of more prolonged slow moving rain, thundery at times. And currently the long range forecast isn't showing a change from what with had since May. Went to the D-Day beacon lighting in our village Thursday night and had to wear a hoodie and a jacket to keep the chill off.
Always been happy to live here, but it's been bad weather since last June and I'm rapidly getting the 'ump with it.

I think you'll be fine. I'm in Dartmouth over that period so it'll be howling winds and horizontal rain here.

Nothing new, D Day was delayed by bad weather, mostly strong winds, and when they did go ahead paratroops were blown all over Normandy

Tried to fit the R&G rad guard I bought a little while ago and the brackets don't seem to line up at all

The instructions say undo all 3 bolts from the radiator and then fit the guard starting with the top bolts. However looking at it if I undo all 3 bolts then the rad isn't supported. So instead I thought I'd do the tops first and then fit the bottom after those are sorted. This is when it started to go wrong as offering the top brackets up to where they fit the bottom bracket is wayyyyy out. I tried to see if I moved it up so the bottom bracket was correct how far out the tops are and encountered 2 problems. One I can't actually get it that far up as the top then hits the ABS gubbins, two the top brackets look way out anyway.
Think a call to R&G is needed. Can't see how I can get it that far wrong with a simple rad guard.

Ready for my trip away I think.
Top box packed inc over trousers (massive MC Hammer lookalike) and over jacket. 2 pairs of gloves. Will be wearing my goretex ones as the main.
Chain is adjusted, cleaned, lubed with Castrol racing lube as think this will be better in rain over the XCP. Gonna take lube in case it rains lots. Pressures and oil checked, might WD the switches later. Left the bike dirty as don't see the point in washing it ahead of the weekend forecast. Pity as like a clean bike for a trip but strong chance I'll be setting off in the rain tomorrow morning so fuck it.
Routes etc in the meets/trips thread but plan is to meet at On Yer Bike near Aylesbury at 10 tomorrow. 5 of us riding down to Bridgewater for a meet with someone joining us from the North. Sunday 3 of us follow the coast of North Devon/Cornwall down to Port Isaac. Monday heading off on my own across Dartmoor to Yeovil for an overnight with my uncle. Tuesday head home from Yeovil on hopefully some decent roads.
Hopefully weather will be showers rather than prolonged rain but bugger all I can do about it so will enjoy regardless
