Does it always look this slow? They all look knackered too  If it wasn't for the national liveries I'd think they were mates out for a jolly!
Looks like a nice course and the riders all look as fit as a butcher's dog. :D

I don't think the telly really gives much idea of how much climbing they're doing.

Ummmm slow? They'll be doing 17+ mph average

Which with the incline is impressive.

The course is a weird one as it's all man made instead of a hill and features dialled in. It was a slag heap before being turned into a MTB track.

I think I saw an average of 22mph earlier.

+ 44mins gone and they're about half way through. Probably best not to go flat out. :D

Interesting contrast in styles. The leader just looks elegant, some of the others seem to bully their way round.

Not a lot of overtaking going on. :D

Ooh...pit stop coming up.

Respect. I think I'd struggle to get round once. I note that the Brit in 5th has trained with Katie C at the FoD.

Wimmins kayaking heats on now. A bit more muscle involved.

Yup, Evie is good mates with Katy. Katy is over in Paris as a MTB coach currently with the Olympic team. She went straight from the national Champs supporting the boy, to Paris the next morning.
Hattie Harnden who's a Enduro and XC superstar is another of Katy's pupils.

As @weeksy said, 17mph av!!!!! I'd struggle to do that on my derestricted ebike. For comparison I went out today on the Amish MTB and rode like the Devil was chasing me and averaged 10.6mph for 46 mins and 1000ft of climbing and I'm broken Galactic Dictator......(I did work a 12hr night last night).

I think the 22mph I saw must have been the actual speed through one of the split time points.

I thought the women's team archery final was  It fair zips along as each team has 60 seconds total for each set of 3 shots. Those bows are quite some bit of engineering and....they even appear to have specialist archery footwear!

I quite fancy having a go. Haven't drawn a bow for ages. (Did a bit of field archery one holiday, which was fun. It tries to simulate hunting so you wander on a trail through the woods and shoot at a range of targets in different positions/distances).

I don't enjoy the football, rugby, tennis, etc, big sports in their own right, then theirs the shit stuff that only participants are interested in. Bring on the track n field, swimming, diving, and I can manage a bit of gymnastics and I'm a happy chap. 🙂👍

Today's race wouldn't help attracting viewers, the XCO course is long and that course was basically built for PFP to win gold. It suited her massively and she's trained specifically for this. She also happens to be super talented.

Every World Cup MTB course needs an off camber high speed corner made from chalk, preferably under trees with a lot of roots and sprayed with water for about a month to allow the chalk to mature to a better than PTFE green, slimy surface.

Just watched BBC highlights.

Woo. The girls slalom canoe thingy. The strength to go upstream against the water stream. Woo.

Then the skateboard. Woo. Blew me away.

Then girly gymnastics.
That lass made Olga Korbut look silly.

Seeing Olga get that perfect 10 stands out as massive in my life. As much as Barry Sheene in 76

Swimming enjoyable.
Not very impressed by the standard of the women's rugby.

New rule. Anyone photographed 'biting' a medal will instantly forfeit medal and position. All other placings will be moved up accordingly.

What the fuck has that got to do with olympic sport? Bearded ladies belong in the circus... :angry-cussingblack:
WTF was that all about! Both disgraceful and disrespectful There'd have literally been riots if they'd mocked other religions in that way!
