The boy has his first gig tomorrow at school, it's a battle of the bands type thing.
Hotel California is up first.

Re: Electric guitar on a budget
Well, the singer isn't actually up to speed on the song LOL. The drummer has been canned due to not learning it well enough, so they've got lead guitar, bass and a semi-singer.

Re: Electric guitar on a budget
Singer has bailed.... Wanker.... 2 hours before going on stage he's said he's not doing it.
So the boy is now singer and lead guitar.
You'll need to turn the volume up... 3 mins 30 is more guitar and less sing

Skillz! Colour me impressed, he only started back in December/January.

He picks things up quickly.... it's funny watching... His golf swing is already getting sweet, he's being about 10 times to the range..Count Steer wrote: βThu May 02, 2024 5:00 pmSkillz! Colour me impressed, he only started back in December/January.

He makes it sound not unpleasant. And can tell what it is. Will get better.weeksy wrote: βThu May 02, 2024 4:52 pmi think he'd like thatMr. Dazzle wrote: βThu May 02, 2024 4:51 pm Takedown notice from The Eagles incoming They're notorious for it.

Singing it really wasn't on the cards for him... I did ask if he could rope anyone in from the singers in the school groups/choir/whatever, but he has decided he's giving it a go himself.Yorick wrote: βThu May 02, 2024 5:05 pmHe makes it sound not unpleasant. He's got bigger balls than me that's for sure.
According to him, he'd rather be at the top of a stupidly big hill waiting to drop in on the MTB

He's coming on leaps and bounds! Nearly everyone's voice is presentable with a little 'verb.
On the video front, presenting his arse to the camera for the first half is entirely another skill set.

Re: Electric guitar on a budget
Once he settled and worked within his natural range I think he did a decent enough job of it. Once he gets confident working in his range and starts to give it a bit more power he'll be fine. Lots of well known lead singers aren't very good technically, they just learn how to work with what they've got and make the song fit.weeksy wrote: βThu May 02, 2024 5:07 pmSinging it really wasn't on the cards for him... Confidence gets you a long way. Give him a large whisky before he goes on.

Re: Electric guitar on a budget
We're at home for this one.... we normally see all his performances he's done in the past, he's played in front of 600+ doing a solo in Basingstoke on the flute. But for this one we've left him to it as that seemed to be his preference. I'm sure it'll make it on Facebook/Insta though

I had to pull the video as apparently it wasn't up to scratch.
His debut gig went brilliantly so he's just messaged. I'm sure he'll be back later with tales of glory

He was probably late back as the traditional post-gig hotel room trashing and parking of Rolls Royces in swimming pools takes time.

Re: Electric guitar on a budget
LOL it was the lad/Mrs Weeksy who wanted it pulling. His concert/Gig ended with lots of compliments, plaudits and adoring fans... Went about as well as it possibly could have apparently. He's still smiling after going to bed a babbling mess splurting 20000 words a second at us.
