Noticed that the ends of the exhaust is taking on a nice rainbow effect... probably something to do with the running two tanks of the good stuff through it...

Those stock cans get very hot after a good thrash.

Not sure about "a good trash", but it took me an hour flat from the house to the RockStore which was 81 miles on the route I took this time

and that included getting stuck behind a CHP cruiser conducting a rolling roadblock for about 4 or 5 miles which added several minutes to the time.

ZX11 won't start... not so much as a pop as if it was trying. Gas in the carbs probably evaporated & gummed the buggers up... but can't hear the fuel pump do it's thing... It's been parked since June.
Supposed to ride it on Sunday.

Gummed up pilot jets normally, I ended up replacing mine
I googled the spec and they were £25 for 4.

I had already used a ultrasound cleaner on them
I'd tried carb cleaner , much stronger than suggested but that didn't work either

Turned out that I'd arrived home on fumes & once I dumped some gas in it, it fired right up...& I rode it back in September, which is the last time I rode it, WTF?

AND!! not learning a damn thing I got home on fumes again, which has resulted in it not firing up again. Gonna head over the airport on Friday & get some gas.
Did the oil/filter change this morning, gonna change a couple of fuel lines, maybe tomorrow. Due to ride on the 16th, weather permitting.

There's a fine line between leaving it with a light tank if you need to remove the tank, and pulling up on fumes

Well I dithered a bit & FINALLY got some blue juice today. Poured some in the tank & it fired right up (again)... Then I discovered I hadn't cured the fucking fuel leak so had to siphon it out again. Bugger.
It's been sat since September.

Vintage bike AHRMA races at Willow this weekend. Plan is to take the F350 out to the track on Saturday & then hit the RockStore on the ZX11 on Sunday, but that depends on getting the tank off & sorting the leak (appears to be coming from the back of the fuel tap)
Still haven't sussed out how to drain the tank completely, had it off a while back & there was clearly the last gallon still in there & no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to come out of the fuel tap or the doodad where I disconnected one of the lines to the tap.

Fuel leak sorted. It was the forward line from the tank to the fuel tap. Rubber had the consistence of marzipan & came off in pieces once I removed the two screws holding the tap to the bracket on the tank. The springy hose clamp doodads had lost their springiness & were loose on the old fuel line.
Brand new OEM fuel line was in the stash so that went on with new springy hose clamps.
Refueled the bike & fired it up. No leaks WooT!

And NOW I can finish the oil change I started on Feb 5th as you have to run the engine, let it sit for 10 minutes (not 9 or 11 minutes, but 10) & then check the level.
Which I just did. Added some, will check again later.

SO!!! This means I can ride on Sunday & stop getting grief at the Third Sunday Kaw meets for showing up in the F350.... & which also has the benefit of using about $18 in gas instead of $80 in diesel.

FFS, ZX11 Fuel leak NOT sorted...

& when I went to move the ZRX11 yesterday the battery totally STB: Key on, neutral light nice & bright, hit starter tit, *click* & then nothing at all. Not even enough juice to illuminate the neutral light.

Buggery bollocks & arsebiscuits...

New battery fitted to the ZRX11 yesterday, old one was 5 years old. Bike fired right up.

The fuel leak is FIXED!! and!! The bike is running!! Hopefully weather cooperates on the 21st for the monthly Kaw meet... & I'll get to run it up The Snake for the first time.

Altho with all new gubbins in the fuel tap it's stiffer than a wedding dick, I even lubed it with some MilSpec fuel lube.

I couldn't ever put the fuel tap onto reserve whilst moving, it was hard enough even sitting on the bike

24 hours & the garage doesn't reek of petrol

Buggery bollocks, ordered a 92143-2010 for the ZX11 instead of a 92143-1088.

Two -1088's ordered today.

The package containing the 92143-1088 order arrived yesterday. Only one of them...bugger.

I discovered there were two after all, one fell on the floor when I opened the package.... which I found when I stepped on it barefoot about two hours later.

-1088 is the collar doodad that the bolts at the front of the gastank go through.
