That's a great result, and a good bit of PR for the dealer.

That's a good result.
Although needing head barings at under 4k miles is a bit odd. Still at least they are sorting them.

The dealer is under new management - I had a long chat with them over a coffee. I'd noticed that I didn't recognise any of them.
The Trident - I nearly chucked it over to the right when I first stood it up as I've got used to the weight of the Speed Twin. There's no oomph in first gear and the braking isn't great - very soft and took a long time to bite. Once I got used to revving again, it was fun. I would say it's first bike friendly as it's not going to do anything surprising and handles nicely - looks lovely too.

Are they prepared to offer you that as you've had the bike a short while? I'd be inclined to ask them to chuck in a sweetener if they do and date it from the purchase date - at least the consumables on the next service...possibly the whole service (if it's not already included in the purchase package). Does no harm to push a bit.

Edit. New vehicles have 2 year warranty anyway, by law.

I've never taken out an extended warranty on principle.

Any chance you would share the cookie recipe? I don't make biscuits much but would like to do more of them (possibly simpler than making cake all the time!!

Unfortunately I can't as I buy them from Marks & Sparks. They are like a shortbread made with flour, almond flour, butter and pistachios. Looking at the ingredients they have golden syrup in them too - no wonder they are nice. Anything with butter and golden syrup is going to be a winner.

With the extended warranty if it's like the Suzuki one it'll cost you more anyway as Suzuki want you to do it with them to schedule not mileage. So for example I'd have been having plugs, air filter, TB balance at 3k miles which it didn't need. Then next year I'd be having plugs again. Triumph will have a different schedule but they'll make in some way. Let's face it dealers will be at least £100 more for a service probably closer to £200 than an independent.
Having said that you've had some issues with your Triumph so I guess it's how much you trust their build quality.

It does help to build a good relationship with your dealer and if you only use them for servicing, they should help fight for your warranty claim. Bring 3rd party servicing into it and they are less obliged to help, but, as you say MoFo, you'll pay extra to build that relationship.

I was thinking more her previous bikes the 765 sounded a bit challenged in the reliability department considering the non stop glowing press reports.

I'd have thought that the only way head bearings should fail after 4k miles would be if they were a) made of Chinesium or b) assembled dry at the factory. Or both. Either way, it's completely unacceptable.
