Just about get both feet flat on the floor, easily get the toes/balls 'firm'. It wouldn't worry me, but low speed handling has always been something I've "clicked" with. Didn't struggle on my test U turn, put it that way

I think you've hit the nail on the head. If you can do the low speed handling thing most of the issues disappear. (I wouldn't get on a bike on the centre stand if I was planning to ride off anyway).

Some of the Paris-Dakar riders are pretty compact and they don't have to be winched on and off. I assume they don't usually have centre or side stands fitted (?) so the riders must be able to pick 'em up and get back on even if they have someone/something holding the bike at the start/end of a section.

That surprises me, the old 750 was a bit of a monster, I could only get one foot down on it because the seat is quite wide (and I'm not tall) and was quite top heavy, the old Transalp felt better balanced.

The new one is huge, I know I could easily ride it on and off road, but I don't want to, I also wouldn't want to get it out of mud when I bury it down to the wheel spindles in a display of my confidence being greater than my ability.

I'm surprised at that tbh because I've got a genuine 30" inside leg and I can only get one foot down at a time and the whole bike stands almost as tall as me.

There is a video somewhere on youtube with a guy comparing an 80s old school AT and the new one, the old one is tiny compared to it and he said the old one is way better off road and in traffic because it's more manageable, but the new one is way better once you're travelling at speed over long distances on the tarmac.

I suspect there's quite a bit to it, probably more than you think. Having child bearing hips for example, or even how far forward you sit.

That looks quite nice. I'll admit though that I liked it more before I looked it up and found out that it was a sticker kit that cost €800.

£800 is a lot for a sticker kit, but it looks a lot better than the standard bike

I've owned an MV Agusta built bike, I don't want another one, I've got enough old bikes that need constant attention, the last thing I want is a new bike that needs a lot of attention.

It looks like they're trying to copy Aprilia's graphics, but without understanding why or how.
