I dunno if -I- was. People make the best of their lot don't they? I wasn't hugely miserable in my 'worst' location - I never considered I would be stuck there forever. Plus times change and your attitude changes. I have a 'worst' location that I would have in mind, maybe it wouldn't have been 'worst' if I had been fecking loaded at the time. I -think- I'm more easy-going now, but I'm in a situation (nice house, nice place to live, relaxed surroundings) where that is a fairly easy attitude to have - more likely is that I would be hugely curmudgeonly being thrown back into a scenario that I had visited before and never wished to return to.

But we're just spitballing here...

Had they posted "Nah location didn't matter but circumstances did" then I'd have had something else to work with.

I'm assuming people chose the location because it made them happy, you'd be a bit simple buying a place to live in a location that made you unhappy.

What if you had really annoying neighbours living in a flat but then went to move to a detached house to avoid annoying neighbours?

That had a massive positive change on my mental health, as i no longer woke up wanting to kill my neighbour of a morning each day!

My neighbours where i live now are great.

I was DJ'ing with one of them a few weeks back. We are all of similar age with similar taste in music etc, so it works quite well. I do a yearly party in my back garden that most neighbours turn up for...

In my previous abode you were lucky if the neighbours even made eye contact!

I'd stay in the same location but 100% buy a different apartment (I'd love a chalet but for one that would probably be excessive and feel lonely!) - but then most of you guys have garages bigger than my 13.7sqm apartment!!

Before anyone leaps in, that's not a complaint. I have THE MOST AMAZING VIEW I've ever had. It makes me happy when I want to sit and cry or scream. Yes, a garage would be nice cos then I'd have a less 'full' apartment, even a cave (storage lockery type thing) within the building would solve that. But you know what, despite living in what is essentially a large caravan sized place, I'm pretty damn happy with it! (And unless I win the lotto, am unlikely to be moving anytime soon!! LOL But if I get the right contract, maybe I will!! )

As I 'may' have mentioned occasionally on here, I have had a pretty horrific 5.5 years (so far). I often have people saying I'm brave or strong or inspirational because I'm always positive.

Well, firstly, it's rare I let anyone see me when I'm not and secondly, I have no choice. No one is going to held my hand while I drown in negativity. So, I choose to be positive.

Friends have had worse injuries or situations and come through. Others haven't come through. I made a choice at the beginning of this whole thing that I HAD to see the positive to survive and I refused to not make it through. It's not strong etc. It's a simple choice

So, as you say, happiness is as much a choice as positivity!! And I've had to make that choice to be happy at some points as well. Gotta be done

Checked out the various important things like crime rates, bus frequency, nearby children. We even sat there for an afternoon just to monitor traffic past the house and the 4pm rush.
1st night we moved there, car stolen. A further 2 vehicles were stolen and 3 damaged in some way or other.
We had a barrage of 'you English, buying up our houses, taking our jobs'. The local pub was like the one in American werewolf, it went silent when we walked in.
Eventually had to block up the letter box as someone poured petrol through and left a box of matches by the door.
The place was a cross between Royston Vasey and the village of the damned.
On the bright side we made 120% profit when we sold it
