More of a shock than his outfit, is there are people out there that hadn't heard of him before? There's more Radio4 listeners on here than previously thought! As I'm young at heart and down with the yoof, I like to listen to radio stations that play songs from the hit parade!

Bangin' chooon.
(albeit with the inflatable Smithy lad only featuring)
What you need to remember, Tiepin, is that most of the people on here haven't listened to anything new since 1976 and if it doesn't feature three blokes in faded denim with guitars and long hair, then it doesn't count as acceptable.
Remember Anne Diamond!

Nope never heard of him, I have teenage kids and I'm more familiar than I'd like with BTS.Taipan wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2023 11:51 am More of a shock than his outfit, is there are people out there that hadn't heard of him before? Re: What in the actual fuck
As one of them it's likely because I rarely listen to any radio stations, too full of prattling DJs. Nor do I was watch much broadcast news, I prefer to read it.Taipan wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2023 11:51 am More of a shock than his outfit, is there are people out there that hadn't heard of him before? If the hit parade appealed to people like me it then they'd be doing it wrong.

Certainly, in that outfit, nobody is focusing on how much of a chunky-monkey he is.

Radio Caroline is back on air broadcasting nationally but aimed at Essex! Actually, it’s not bad.Taipan wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2023 11:51 am More of a shock than his outfit, is there are people out there that hadn't heard of him before? Re: What in the actual fuck
Dunno mon ami but I found lots of stuff to go and listen to after 1976. The 90s were a bit bleak in some ways but, like most decades, if you avoided 'pop' and the 'top ten' there was stuff to shake a feather to. Pretty much like now really, if you duck the confections that getmangocrazy wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2023 7:16 pmPre-punk?Count Steer wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2023 7:14 pm1976? 'Industry' awards which appear to be the very definition of 'circle jerk' people are still out there trying to make good music. The 'industry' actually seems to be less important, less relevant and less interesting than ever. Hey ho...some still like their 'top of the pops' stuff.

Agree completely. As long as you have a working set of ears attached to a brain that is prepared to investigate the path less trodden you will always be rewarded. I very occasionally like something mainstream, but it's the exception rather than the rule.

Re: What in the actual fuck
The 90s were the decade that I 'got' electronic dance music; techno, house, breakbeat, drum and bass. I had some of the best times of my life on the dance floor in that decade. They were also the years when I put the most amount of miles on bikes and did the majority of the track days I've done. I'd happily go back to the '90s...Count Steer wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2023 7:32 pm The 90s were a bit bleak in some ways but, like most decades, if you avoided 'pop' and the 'top ten' there was stuff to shake a feather to.

Nah, I'm sure the Pistols were around before then. I can remember gig reviews in NME.mangocrazy wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2023 7:16 pmPre-punk?Count Steer wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2023 7:14 pm1976? Interesting and quite specific choice of year. Any particular reason?
