Still, it's not bad pay for being in the world's most successful soap opera, they might even get close to being paid as much as a footballer.

Maybe they should of shown some compassion to us by paying for it themselves
They had the second service in a chapel in his mum's house's back garden, after a stroll up the drive.

Mainly from the Sovereign Grant which is obviously our tax money controlled by the government, what can go wrong there! and of course private investments!

Though does that not make it even worse. They are taking tax money to live one of the most privileged lives in the country around some of the wealthiest people in the world then still want extra tax money to pay for the funeral! The irony, the irony is just too much!

Anyway, strip these grants away and they are still one of the richest families in the world.

The Sovereign Grant is paid for by the Crown Estate which makes over £300M profit each year, the government keeps the rest so the Crown Estate is propping up the taxpayer.

The sovereign grant resulted when the government took on the cost of running the country, which the monarch previously did. In those days, income tax wasn't a given.
Truss and Kwarteng seem to be leading parts of the elite back in that direction.

If i was in such a position i would be able to afford to pay for it myself, just like the monarchy had the money to pay for it themselves!

For me it was just a bit of a kick in the teeth. We are all struggling to even warm our houses and at the same time being asked to pay £8m+ for a funeral for one of the richest monarch's in the world, how does that even seem the slightest bit fair?
The poor bloke had to bury his mother whilst millions of people scrutinised his every step and emotion, for days - and you think on top of that he should have paid for the privilege so you can have an extra bar lit up on your fire.

Put a sweater on and show some compassion.
Previous Royal funerals were mainly private. These days the 'public' more or less insist on having a spectacle, so they have to pay. Seems fine to me,
