Changed the plugs and removed the power commander as the bike now has a standard exhaust and air filter so I thought I’d eliminate that. Seems to be running ok now. Will see at Pembrey and will bring tools and the spare coil just in case.
Also the power commander looked like this…

…so there’s that.

Tell me it was resting on the exhaust heat shield and that isn't from electrical over heating?

It ran with it fitted so I’m guessing that’s caused by exhaust heat.

The bike worked all day at Pembrey so I guess that the problem was either the spark plugs or the melted power commander.
So the bike is great, I just need to work on me now. It's much easier to ride than the honda but looking at the pictures from Pembrey I've just gone to the same point of lean and stopped again... it's just less work now. So now I need to break that lean barrier in my head and I'll be golden. Simple

I know this all leads back to the discussion from the other night and my thoughts still are similar...
You've got 2 main options.
1. Get coaching
2. Push harder
Both are tricky, both are also easy... but... both quite tricky lol. It all depends on how high your desire to improve is. It won't just magically happen though... Not once you reach a certain plateau within your riding which it sounds like you've done.
Ask yourself this.. Why don't you go faster.... what stops you ... Both in corners, straights, braking... What is it in each ?
Do you use braking points ? Turn in points ?

Braking is fine I think, I could out brake the people who were overtaking me on the straight with no worries going in to the hairpin for example.
I struggle to get full throttle as my wrist doesn't extend far enough. I have the quickest throttle cam fitted and I'm not far off max, I just need to adjust my grip or roll off the palm of my hand as I've seen others do. I'm completely happy rolling the throttle on coming out of corners (especially if I'm in the right gear).
I use all the turn in points and apex cones and all that makes sense.
It feel like the lean angle is the only thing and the confidence in corners. Given a day at Bedford I can push past where I am at Pembrey and Cadwell just because I know it so well. Often though I get to a point and I just start to feel that I must be at the lean limit when in truth I'm miles from it. I start to get nervous when the tyres start to move that tiny bit that they naturally do.
I think that I need to get it in to my head that the tyres will be fine as they clearly will be, relax my grip and push the inner bar more. When I've done this it's worked absolutely fine but convincing myself of that somewhere I'm less familiar with or when there's rain in the air is tough. So I tend to ride in that comfortable zone.
I know the problem, I need to push harder, it'll be fine. I'm just a worrier, big time

First job.... remove that pressure from yourself. It's an expensive hobby to worry and pressure yourself.

I worry about and overthink literally everything in life
Anyway, I'm still hugely enjoying doing the track days and have loads of time to improve

In simple terms for you to lean more you have to be going faster, increased corner speed! Fact is you don’t need to lean any more than you are for the given speed that you are going, for example I’f you’re at 45 degree lean angle for said corner with a corner speed of 55mph then for that lean angle to increase you have to increase your speed, obviously there is other factors relating to lean angle like body position and counter steering input but the main factor is speed.
So increase that corner entry speed and corner speed and the lean angle will come, all you have to do is convince your brain that it’s perfectly safe to do so, get through that initial “oh Ya cunt” moment that you feel, bikes are incredible and the level of grip that’s there is even more incredible, mind boggling in fact. Tyres are ridiculous, years and years ago you could be on a shit set of tyres but nowadays all the tyres are stupidly good.
But just enjoy………..that’s the main thing.

@dern , I think you’ve sort of answered your own question Mark, so much of riding a bike is a confidence/head thing, track time and familiarity with the circuit have to be a major factor in pushing harder.
Our James has the same confidence issues when it comes to leaning the bike that bit further but it will come with time.
