So if you were going to do a modern retro, a la xsr etc., based on that (and they surely must)what would you base it on?

It's odd - I think it's supposed to look futuristic or at least contemporary but it just looks old - already dated. Especially the exhaust.

It looks a bit meh but as with any Honda it'll be real easy to ride fast and a 90hp twin is appealing knowing how much fun a 70hp MT07 can be
My 47hp CB500F is a hoot. A 90hp version sounds excellent to me.
Cheaper and faster than it’s direct competitors. If my experience of modern cheap Hondas is anything to go by it’ll handle superbly. My cbr650f and cb500x were both way better than their spec suggested.
Hondas are always built better than competitors at same price point as they have more buying power.
Just maybe a lot of folk have rose tinted specs on about the first hornet. As standard they were ok, we’ll the 600 was the 900 was overweight and detuned.
I can’t wait for a go on this as a giant cb500 has to be a good thing

The current CB650 that Morti posted on the previous page looks like the CB1000R. And a million times better than this Hornet.
I do like the look of that. Although if I was going to get it, I'd probably get the thousand.
To a kid looking up to me, life ain't nothing but bitches and money.

I was looking at 125s as my older boy is getting to that age. The CB125R seemed like a good option. I don't think he's that into bikes though.
They do look well, but at 16/17 if you'd bought me one I'd be crying into my R125 brochure.

R125 is absolute hoot, I regret having to sell mine, it was a fun wee thing.
Lets be fair, what exactly was ground breaking about the original Hornet? It's got the distinctive exhaust, but other than that?
It sold really well 'cause it was cheap, easy to ride and had a lovely engine that is simultaneously zippy but not that powerful. Just fast enough for everyone. Sounds quite like this new one really.
The original 250 Hornet was cool, nothing else looked like it at the time. The generally fatter all over 600 that came out a few years later still looked cool when compared to it's main rival, the 600 Blandit.
