I think Biden will take a much tougher stance against Russia than Trump ever did. I think there's some sanctions working their way through now.

If Russia do go in to the Ukraine, there will be speeches at the UN, but the US won't (under any president) do anything and Putin knows that.

The thing that may cause it to spiral is that Zelensky is cosying up to Erdogan for support. If Turkey get dragged in to it then Turkey is a NATO country.

I think Erdogan is too canny of an operator to put himself in russia's way though.

I can't understand why any country gets itself involved in Afghanistan. It's been a problem area of the world for centuries. It even gets a mention in Herman Melville's masterpiece:
