Re: DO you dream ? At night etc..
If I drink wine I very rarely remember my dreams, but when I don't drink, I have the most vivid and lucid dreams. They are mostly enjoyable, so much so I often look forward to going to sleep to see what the nights dreams will hold!
My dreams often involve random celebrities, for reasons I cannot explain. Recently I was helping Rod Stewart rebuild an old sidecar combination and was surprised at how small his little house was. He was explaining to me that this how he really lived and the rest was just a front. Then Penny came in and we moved the front room furniture around, but all agreed one chair had to go!? I can't begin to tell you how lucid it was and how guilty I felt for being totally smitten with Penny. For the first hour of being awake I really had this overwhelming guilty feeling of letting a mate and my wife down!
Something i initially found quite distressing was dreaming about my dead parents, especially when I conversed with them in the dream. Now I'm used to it, I love it. I walk on air after dreaming about my Mum and talking with her.
So, yes, I love my dreams, but I'm also very thankful I don't have such lucid nightmares!

Thanks to convos on here yesterday i had lots of Ducati 1098 dreams last night, sadly i don't think i was riding it that much, but i recall parts where i was at Moto Rapido with Wilf talking rubbish and getting it serviced. I almost woke up disappointed when i realised i have a zx6r in the garage lol

Re: DO you dream ? At night etc..
I rarely remember dreams though I'm sure I must dream.
Years ago I used 24 hour nicotine patches as a aid to giving up smoking. The first night, nothing, the second night was like I'd been at the cinema all night rather than asleep. I went to Gordon Ramsay's party and spent the night mixing with his guests, swimming in his pool and snacking on hors d'oeuvres. It was so vivid that I didn't feel at all rested. I remembered that nicotine patches give you dreams and looked it up - it was definitely them and they are apparently abused for that reason. I never used them after that.

Re: DO you dream ? At night etc..
Loads of dreams last night, mostly involving boats, rescues and eventually building motorbikes.. Very weird start, i think it was me watching too much Jack Ryan with the wife/boy which led me to running round on a rescue mission after 1 of a pair of twins had been killed and i had to keep the 2nd twin hidden and safe.
The last dream i was on the same boat but designing a Supertwin cafe racer from either a 696 monster or a SV650.

I usually only remember snatches of my dreams but the dreams I have are usually unstettling. It’s difficult to describe but I wouldn’t call them nightmares just awkward situations.
I never seem to have a ‘happy’ dream where I win the lottery and live a life of luxury for instance.
Also a lot of my dreams are based in the small village where I spent my childhood. Possibly a yearning for simpler carefree times?
Who knows.

Re: DO you dream ? At night etc..
I invariably dream during those times when I accidentally have a quick nap during the day. I try to remember them and write down the most revealing points of the dream. I once dreamt I was stuck on the Kellogs Corn Flake factory conveyor and couldn’t get off! That was my cue to change jobs for something less humdrum, which I did.
I can’t ever recollect dreaming in colour or anything to do with colour. Mainly events and people.

Interesting thread!
I've always dreamed, but they have always been very vague or bitty - And I would remember them for all of about 10 Minutes after waking and then they were gone for ever.
Always had the odd random things in my head as I drifted off to sleep, but thats really been about it.
However, I lost my Mum suddenly in the first part of December and everything in all of our lives went a bit (To put it mildly) F**ked up as we were due to get wed 4 Days later, and my now wife had just found out we had a little one on the way - So things were seriously stressful for everyone and life was a bit of a mess.
But on thing that really hit me is that my dreams changed completely once I actually managed to get some quality sleep after about 2 Weeks or so of one or two hours a night. Could have been stress related I guess but I was having the most vivid dreams - All with my Mum present.... I wont bore you with the specific details of each one but in each one I actually knew I was dreaming, and I could think freely and touch, feel, talk and even smell - Something which I have never had before.
Most clear ones was being on a phone to her whilst I was in a toy shop looking at Nerf guns, Being at a Fairground and also walking around our home village together.
I remember hugging my mum, and holding her hand and saying to her - "This is a dream, How can I feel your hand? Whats going on?"
As usual - Mum was of no help at all and just laughed
The regularity of these types of dreams has tailed off as the weeks have passed, but I still get one now and again. Not sure if it was my minds way of coping, or something else but it was quite comforting.
The brain certainly is a complicated piece of work

Re: DO you dream ? At night etc..
I enjoyed last night. I was lining up on the grid for a race at BSB type left on a Ducati 848. I never actually made it to the race before i awoke, which was a shame, but i got to the warm up lap
Re: DO you dream ? At night etc..
I hadn't given it much thought until I spotted this thread, but no, I haven't been having dreams lately. I used to dream quite a bit. I had recurring dreams as a youth. One involved flight. I was a skinny lad and I think that had a part (my driver's license had me at 5'10" weighing 110lbs until the end of my first year in college - I hit 125lbs). Anyway, I'd be out on a breezy day with a flannel shirt on, unbuttoned. I'd hold the shirt and fan it out like wings to catch the breeze. If was rather uncontrolled, swooping up high, plummeting to earth only to catch a breeze again and go way up. Half scary, half fun.
I had a particularly disturbing one regularly while working for an asshole vet out here. One of my teeth would be loose, I'd wiggle it between thumb and forefinger and it would fall out. I'd attempt to put it back and others would loosen up and fall out. They weren't ordinary teeth either, not as the dream progressed, they'd start out normal and then go to weird teeth, all pretty identical to one another. They were sort of like incisors only turned 90 degrees so they all sort of "stacked" in place. Eventually I'd be wrestling with what seemed like hundreds of flat yellow teeth that were falling out while I desperately tried to replace them.
Lately I haven't had any dreams, good or bad. I dunno when I had the last one.

First one last night was all dragons, magic and full on crazy fantasy stuff.
Last one before waking was buying and selling motorbikes.
The first was far more exciting than 2nd.

Re: DO you dream ? At night etc..
I'm lying here on the sofa working as i had what would be called one of the most surreal dreams of my life and i don't want to go back to sleep in case i continue it.
I was in sort of a sleep state in this dream and i knew my life was coming to an end, with a countdown timer etc, this was running into the final minutes and i was having to make decisions about how i'd spend eternity. I was picking out fabrics/tape that my body and eyes would be wrapped in and watching this clock as i was making these decisions, picking out where i'd spend it lying and why, what i would or wouldn't be able to see, think etc... picking out different bits of reality within it.
It really was quite a fucking extreme and very vivid dream !

I've had a few dreams over the years that I still remember vividly. One, many, many years ago I was on a speedboat and fell out, as I was trying to get in I caught my wrist on the propeller. Once in the boat my wrist was itchy so I scratched it and started pulling my veins out and pulled quite a lot out. Then a few years later I saw Nightmare on Elm street (3 I think) and one of the characters in that had their veins pulled out and was used as a puppet. That freaked me out.weeksy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 1:37 pmNightmare on Elm Street.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 1:21 pmISTR if you dont have REM sleep and dream you go proper batshit. Even if you don't remember your dreams you must be having them, assuming you're not in hospital.
But then again, I could be remembering that fact from an episode of Star Trek.

I do from time to time, some I remember vividly, so much so that I feel it really happened, then I’m gutted when I realise it was just a dream. I find the ones I remember are after wakening during the night and maybe sleeping for an hour or two before the alarm goes off.
I also suffer badly from time to time with sleep paralysis, ever since I was a kid, I can go long times without having an episode then other times I can get them frequently.
I also dream about my mum and brother from time to time, it’s weird because in the dreams I know they are no longer here and I’m questioning whether it’s real or not (their death) in the dream. Really strange those ones and the sadness and emptiness I feel when I wake and recall the dream is not nice.
