Those sprung saddles are super comfy, I had one on this old Raleigh when I got it.

That saddle probably sits you a couple of inches higher than a normal one, try changing it for a new one maybe.

Got given this today! First time I’d ridden a power assisted bike and sit karks it is! I bet those duper emtbs are something else!!

I've given that one back and bought my own one now. Should be perfect for my initial needs. Pick it up tonight.

A combination of work and getting the Ducati on the road meant I had little opportunity to ride the Trek and, on the limited occasions I did ride it, I got frustrated with the limited return for your effort when compared to an e-bike.

And a ride round the high peak last weekend with @porter_jamie on a hired Trek Rail convinced me I need to get back on an emtb. So I've bought this....



A 2020 Focus Sam2. 170mm travel, mullet, Bosch gen 4. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

Yeah, I've hired a Trek Rail emtb - which are 29er's - twice now for rides in the high peak and have loved 'em.

I know there's those that don't like them, you and @Couchy, but I really clicked with them and didn't experience any negatives. I was expecting it to feel like riding a badly trained giraffe; all teetery and torrery and remote, but didn't get that all and the difference in rolling resistance and how the front wheel tracks was eye opening.

Now I have to engage the time honoured ritual that Helen and I go through of sneaking an expensive selfish purchase past each other.

Week 1 - keep purchase somewhere there is a very slim possibility of the other person finding it, the back of my van for example
Week 2 - use purchase in manner intended away from other person, see if they become aware of a disturbance in the force
Week 3 - use purchase in manner intended and post pictures of it being used on facebook, see if they notice
Week 4 - bring purchase into house/garage and not exactly hide it, but make it not particularly obvious, and see if the notice while going about their normal business
Week 5 - move purchase into obvious place in house/garage, and see if they notice while going about their normal business
Week 6 - deliberately encourage other party to go into part of house/garage where purchase is and almost force them to discover it

At which point, when they say "Is that a new ***? When did you get that?!!??!!?!?". And the agreement we have is that if the answer is more than 5 weeks ago then the other party has no right to complain.

So far I've got two mountain bikes in under this approach and Helen's got a sewing machine and a pressure cooker....

All my mountain bikes are named. Usually after Starships or Characters from novels. In 2015 I purchased a Specialized Enduro, Mrs M wasn’t er advised of this purchase but she was on our local MTB group Messenger Chat. My wide mouthed mate then blabbed that somebody in the group had a new bike, as I was the only one with an old bike still, Mrs M easily worked out it was me and there was then a strongly worded listening too on my part. The Specialized became “Reasonable Grounds for Divorce” as I was reading a Culture Novel at the time.

I did get my revenge as wide mouthed mate secretly spent an eye watering amount on a new watch and during a meal out with him and his wife we kept asking him the time……….
