Agreed, but we're close to Sheffield and its Clean Air Zone; at present they're being softly-softly with non-compliant vehicles, but I'm pretty sure that won't last for much longer, so we're going to need a Euro 5 minimum vehicle to avoid charges.MyLittleStudPony wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:00 pm Old Honda Accord estate? Mrs Ds 2011 Honda Civic (petrol) is ULEZ compliant. Driven it into that London and everything nay bother.
Her 2006 one was too, but we never took that to London.

Today I've learned of the existence of the Azonom Palladium, you should definitely not get one of them.

What flavour of Euro 'x' is compliant? At present, obvs. I'm sure the criteria will get stiffer and stricter over time. I'm solely looking at petrol cars, partially for Euro compliance and partly because I don't want to endure DPF hell.

It looks like something Elon Musk might dream up. That's not a compliment, by the way.KungFooBob wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 8:22 pm Today I've learned of the existence of the Azonom Palladium, you should definitely not get one of them.

Almost.
Edit: Actually, looking at it again it looks like an Allegro (Vanden Plas) on steroids!
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

The fact I hadn't seen that is the only reason I hadn't already ordered one.KungFooBob wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 8:42 pmBut have you seen the slide out boot that fits your personalised custom luggage?Mr. Dazzle wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 8:40 pm I'd drive that.

I thought we'd Brexited all that Euro emissions bollocks away. And were feasting on the benefit fish with our blue passports in a foreigner-free land as a result.

Aaaand we have a winner...
2013 Skoda Fabia estate with the later 1.2 TSi 16v petrol engine for £1950 including service and new timing belt. 118k miles.
Had a quick drive round the block in it and it feels very together and composed. It also has a service book with full history (many from main dealer) up to Dec 2024.

Be very careful with Ecoboosts that are pre 2019, they could blow up without warning. All of them have a wet timing belt which is bad news.weeksy wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:05 pm wife has a Focus 1.0 Ecoboost and whilst 1.0 doesn't sound a lot it's some weird engine where it makes lots of speed, but with a small capacity engine lol

Don't ask me what magic it is, but it's 50+mpg for a petrol and plenty of oomph. Never had a problem with it in 5 years.
They do older/cheaper ones of course.
I have a 2015 Fabia 1.2 tsi. The one with the later engine with a belt instead of a chain. 50mpg and mapped to 140 bhp

Y606TKO was the Skoda Fabia estate I had back ages ago, lovely car and did it all on little fuel. No ABS, the only reason I sold it on. Lovely cars these newer ones.
