Tonight's minor uodate, gear linkage fitted, very heavy steel handlebars fitted as far as I can, I need a new throttle assembly as the old one is cracked and I don't think holding it to the handle bars with a self tapping screw is normal.

Time for a bit of an update
I've sorted out the instruments, I'm going to use the small speedo it came with, a normal size rev counter that came off eBay for £15, it has the idiot lights built in and the red line in the right place, and a small temp gauge the same size as the speedo. Going to arrange them with the rev counter central and the other dials equally spaced either side. I'll mount them on a flat alloy plate cut to shape and the make a foam surround to fill the space between the clocks and the fairing.
Mounting the tale light has turned into a drama, I can either make up an alloy tray to replace the missing rear mudguard and bolt the light mounting frame to that, or get plates welded to the frame to replace those cut off by a previous owner, I'm thinking of getting the frame braced, if I do the welded plates make sense.
Next minor drama, aforementioned previous owner also decided to cut the seat catch mounting plates in half, I could get plates made up to replace these, but as YPVS seat catches are like rocking horse poo, I may just go for using well nuts in the seat and bolts through the frame to keep the seat on.
Now for some good news, I had a skip delivered this morning, I went out to meet the driver in my Rizla Suzuki fleece (an actual proper one given to my wife by Paul Denning at Donington when it started raining and she was cold) Anyway we got talking about bikes and I asked what bike he had, he was young, in his 20s, he said he had a TDR125 and that he loved two strokes, I casually mentioned I had a 350 YPVS in the garage, would he like to look at it, I think I made his day, he said it was one of his dream bikes.

Found this picture on Face Berk, I quite like the lack of rear light and am considering having a flat piece of plastic in the tail piece to replace the tail light, and then having a tail light in that.

Haven't added anything to this thread for a while but I've been buying a few bits and steadily do small bits, any way the bike is now dry built and ready to be pulled apart to get the frame painted, the weather is supposed to be okay on Saturday so that will be strip down day, Sunday I'll probably take the top end apart.

Is there a way of uploading photos without first putting them on a hosting site?
I didn't take any pictures last night but I can take some before pulling it apart on Saturday, though at the moment it looks like a scruffy power valve.

Create a new album on Facebook. Set the privacy so only you can see it (if you don't want friends to think you're uploading random shite), upload all your pictures to that album.
Then do the usual right click and copy image link.

Bit more progress this morning, it's now stripped to the bare frame, it's definitely been raced, all the unnecessary lugs have been cut off and then welded back on badly, - the frame is pretty worthless (because it's Q reg) so it's not worth spending a lot of money getting these welds sorted for cosmetic reasons, so it will be off to Aerocoat near Yarmouth this week or next.
Popped the head off the engine, it's 0.25 over size and the bored are good, left hand piston has been detonating, so I'll replace both pistons and clean up the head.
One of the barrel nuts is rounded off so I need to work out a way to get round this.
Next step is venturing into the clutch.

Or you can register for a postimage account, its free and what i use for all my picture hosting for here
Think i have a couple of hundred photos on there already and its fairly simple to use.
Register, create an album then click upload ...choose images and add to the album probably named YPVS Rebuild ...you can then click on share image and it will give you a hotlink to a forum you just paste into the thread and hey presto

Looks like it's getting reframed with a C reg F1 frame, as I just won one on eBay, comes with a set of LC2 clocks and the fairing mounting, I'll sell my Q reg frame, someone is asking £400 for a Q reg frame on eBay, but I think £200 is more realistic.
My new frame is in Swansea, which is a bit of a pain, as it's a 4 hour drive each way.

Barrels off today, the left hand cylinder has been seized at some point, there's a couple of big marks on the piston, a previous owner has put new rings on it and slung it back together because the rings are unmarked, I can't see any damage to the barrel but I'm going to get it rebored as it's only an extra £80.
A Sealey lock on combination spanner dealt with the rounded nut no problem.
Next the clutch, there's been a right butcher at work in here, the clutch centre nut been abused with a hammer and chisel, the damage is so bad I can't get a socket on the nut, I'm going to have to remove the damage with a file. I also need to buy a clutch holding tool.
A Sealey lock on combination spanner dealt with the rounded nut no problem.

Every racer had a clutch holding tool.
