Missed this. ;pics;

(Of the Porsche, not a squiffy Slenver :) )
How pissed was you Slenver? Of all the things to buy pissed, a Porsche is probably not the best one! :shock: :lol:
In fairness, the order of events was listed chronologically, but one didn't necessarily lead directly to the other :)

Digitised a map owned by the Luftwaffe which showed the targets in London. Transport, Hospitals and Buckingham Palace were the main ones, but other cultural buildings were also marked out!

Mowed the verge and front lawn having let it do the no-mow May thing (strimmed it yesterday).

Found a dead adult woodpecker in front of the cabin. It had tried to fly through the glazed door. :( I'll have to string some old CDs or something in front of the glass. I successfully stopped kamikaze birds flying into the conservatory by hanging fretwork colored perspex mandala things inside. Looks like a Buddhist retreat. :lol:
If the spanners are still there i may well be interested .....

Little known fact. This island was under German occupation during the war. We found some gun sites on North of the island.

Franco was mates with Hitler, the Luftwaffe were happily bombing Spanish cities on behalf of Franco during the revolution. I'd hazzard a guess that the Germans were allowed to use the ports in the Canaries for re-supply and whatever but I doubt they occupied the islands.

Wanders off for a Google........

Think of all that cheap beer and quality Yorkshire humour they missed out on..... ;)

Britain occupied Iceland during the war. Given how expensive the beer is there, and the miserable bloody weather, it's a wonder more didn't switch sides and head to the sun.

I think that's the general consensus.

Wikipedia says that the Germanys provided equipment to the Spanish garrisons in the canaries, but didn't occupy themselves, they hoped that Spain were going to join their side, but they'd just finished a civil war in 1939, so didn't fancy another scrap.

Just had another fekking holiday cancelled.

That’s the third one in a row. I’m still waiting for the big retirement holiday and I’ve been retired 2 and a half years.

Had a Greek island cruise on the latest Virgin Voyages ship only to learn today it’s not going to be ready till next year.

On the positive side we get 200% credit on the cruise plus a free cruise as long as we take them both this year.

Just need to get booking again.
