the_priest wrote: Tue May 31, 2022 4:33 pm Eye test today. Very small change and only in my left eye. However pressures are back up, so have to go back to eye specialist to check for glaucoma etc... New glasses with reactions lenses as I have a lot of driving this year in the summer and may as well protect my vision. Then home for coffee/lunch and then to head out to the Erith Church to help with a Bible Study. May be able to get a pastoral visit done on the way there, so saving a trip. Petrol is £1.769 in local station now. I think Asda is still closer to £1.649, so may head there instead!
Bear in mind reactions lenses are triggered by UV light, which is generally blocked by car windscreens. They may be less effective when driving. If you can get a two for one deal it may be best to go for separate sunglasses.
Transitions do a version that sorts that out.

Did you climb the cliffs and hang form trees?
No, there's definitely no cliffs and not many trees, it's bleak.

When I first read that I wondered "why not a European city of culture?".

Normal boring stuff!!

I cycled 14 kms (only on a sit down cycle, not on the normal upright ones! Physio is looking after my shoulder!!). We've upped the resistance, kept the time the same, but I have increased the speed as well to try and get to 7 kms in 15 mins. Just do 15 mins morning and afternoon - hopefully will increase in the next week or so :D

I'm allowed to use the leg curl/extension machine too - two sessions, total of 50 & 40 of each

Then, THEN -

I walked 'almost' normally!! Ok, with crutches, and using the right one as little as possible (not ideal for walking as with a damaged left knee, I'm supposed to use the right side for a single crutch, but nevermind!). I'm not quite at 100% weight bearing yet, so can't quite do away with the right crutch completely cos then I sort of hop! LOL The kine is insistent that I do not hop! LOL

Had some progress in the pool with my shoulder too, so it's been a good day :bblonde:

Emptied the garage, had a bit of a clear out, put everything back in the garage in a different place.

Got the car cleaned. Put up flags and bunting etc. Mowed the lawns and cleaned the windows. Now I'm hitting the shower and then I'm going to have a crafty Old Mout before picking our guests up! 8-)

You will regret that when you want something.

Having filled and got rid of a skip - mainly old insulation and crap from the house loft - I parked the latest pallet (came with umpteen bags of compost and bark on it) by the garage, stuck a 1cu. metre builders bag on it and started to gather stuff from the garage in it ready to decant into the next skip. The list of stuff you can't chuck in a skip is nearly as long as the list of stuff you can. :( I find it hard to throw stuff 'that might be useful' but I'll just have to be brutal so if anyone wants to skip dive for decent timber and imperial spanners I'll let you know when the skip is due

Mowed the verge and front lawn having let it do the no-mow May thing (strimmed it yesterday).

Found a dead adult woodpecker in front of the cabin. It had tried to fly through the glazed door. :( I'll have to string some old CDs or something in front of the glass. I successfully stopped kamikaze birds flying into the conservatory by hanging fretwork colored perspex mandala things inside. Looks like a Buddhist retreat.

Didn't raise any objections when the wife told me she was going to start hacking off the rotten old plaster in the corner of the kitchen.

She's doing a grand job and I'm leaving her to it.

Might open a beer in a minute.

I have learned to flex in the wind like a tree. It's far safer, less tiring and, as it was something I was intending to do anyway, far more productive.

I've been practising Zen today, while doing sod all.

Today I've learned how to test the output of the alternator on the Husky. Not normally something I'd try as I hate leccy stuff, but one of my best mates is probably the top guy in the UK when it comes to this sort of thing and he talked me through it all slowly. Had to go buy another multimeter as well as my had all loose connections. It's nice to use a new one.

I feel educated and now beer O'clock

Yes. I know. He showed me how to do that. I'd no idea how to check AC current :obscene-birdiedoublered:
