But..but you can't be the boss of a motorcycle forum and not own a motorcycle. It's bound to be against some sort of necessary rule.weeksy wrote: Mon Apr 18, 2022 9:21 pmI'd say 'nothing' is the answer mate. 4 sunny days and I didn't even consider putting a key in a motorbike, seems quite telling to me
It's sunny everyday here. I still only ride once a month.weeksy wrote: Mon Apr 18, 2022 9:21 pmI'd say 'nothing' is the answer mate. 4 sunny days and I didn't even consider putting a key in a motorbike, seems quite telling to me
0 interest in track, I don't know how many days in track I've done but it's over 150 now.Dodgy knees wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 6:54 am Ditch the road bike and have a track bike each. Road riding doesn't always fill me with excitement, but a trip with a night out or trackday really does.![]()

But it's nice to know it's there. If you're not skint, just leave it there.

The itch to ride might go dormant for a while but it never goes away completely.
I liked that post, not for the suggestion for @weeksy to get a trackbike, as I'm sure that wouldn't do it for you, but the second sentence which I completely agree with - I've ridden a bike every day for the last 4 days, and it's been brilliant.Dodgy knees wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 6:54 am Ditch the road bike and have a track bike each. I'm guessing it was because you were doing other non-motorbike stuff or had commitments that meant you couldn't do anything on the bike, as we both know how much fun it can bring when the time is right and you fancy it ( and of course they offer far more scope for cleaning and removing/re-fitting bits than with pedal bikesCount Steer wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 8:24 amYorick wrote: Mon Apr 18, 2022 11:03 pmIt's sunny everyday here. All done. Removed wheel, drive shaft, rear hub, bottom bolt of shock mount and now I just wait for those castellated nuts to remove swingarm.the_priest wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 7:37 am Started loosening off bits on the Triumph to get the swingarm off. Will do the rear brake caliper next... Need to strip and clean it anyhow. Loosen up the bottom shock mountings as well. Abba stand will be useful.
I hear you. I'm just not sure when that time will arrive these days.Tricky wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 9:38 amI liked that post, not for the suggestion for @weeksy to get a trackbike, as I'm sure that wouldn't do it for you, but the second sentence which I completely agree with - I've ridden a bike every day for the last 4 days, and it's been brilliant.Dodgy knees wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 6:54 am Ditch the road bike and have a track bike each. Thursday was a spur of the moment last minute (booked less than 24hrs before) trackday at Donington which although it didn't involve a night out / overnight stay (which is usually a big part of the fun/adventure for me on them these days) was brilliant, and the best track day I've had in absolutely ages- I calculate it at approx £220 in fuel, diesel, snacks etc, so yep, yep it wasn't cheap but it wasn't £350 either
And the last 3 days have been out on the roads on the Multi with OH- it wouldn't have been half as enjoyable by myself but it's been so enjoyable- I'm off to Belgium on it for a little week-end away next month, and of course at least Kev and I (and hopefully @Dodgy knees and you, maybe one of two others too ) will get to meet up somewhere in Wales/Derbyshire/Yorks etc on the June Jolly-boys trip- as Dodgy says the trips out can be great fun, as of course you know as well as anyone

He's not interested in them in the slightest, which considering how much a part of his life they've been, is surprisingBike Breaker wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 11:50 am Weeksy, is your lad interested in motorbikes? The mt07 fits that bill as well as anything out there apart possibly from a KTM, but I don't want the character of the KTMPotter wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 11:53 am You need a bike(s) that you will enjoy owning, then it doesn't matter if you ride it from one year to the next, it's always there when you feel like it and you're glad you kept it. I've got bikes that rarely turn a wheel but when I'm in the mood then there is nothing better and even when I haven't used them for a few years it would still pain me to sell them.
