I was on the front of a Roller Coaster in Germany during a hail storm. It was made wore with the front being tapered so we were getting hit with the ones that missed. Never stopped up staying on for another shot though while all the Germans hid for cover.

I did that for a good few years. I nursed an old Alpha combi by replacing its PCBs, a divertor valve, fan etc. Its not worth it. Get rid of it and get a new A rated boiler, it will literally pay for itself compared to that old crap.
I'm the same with our old Maxi boiler, it's like Triggers broom, two PCBs (the last one I re-soldered components rather than replace), two fans, a valve, etc.
We keep saying we might sell up, so I'm trying to nurse it along to be the next house owners problem.
In the ten years we've been in this house I've replaced the PCB, the diverter valve, the tank stat and the pump... Twice.

I hate to think how much a tradesman would have charged for the same jobs,
I'd guess two jet skis.

Iccy would be able to give a more accurate price.

£280 for a new PCB in our Vaillant a couple of weeks ago.

Today, I got the van stuck and it was actually pretty hairy for a little while.

I visited someone locally and I tried to turn around on their private driveway, it's very very steep with a hairpin half way up, and the hair pin is much tighter than the steering lock on the Vito.

I landed up in the position where going forward meant going down a very steep bank, through trees and writing the van off, trying to reverse up the hill resulted in wheel spin and the handbrake (actually foot operated) turns out to be not really very good on a steep hill. So I couldn't let my foot of the brake and get out of the drivers seat.

Luckily after a few frantic phone calls, 3 guys turned up with a hand winch, attached it to a tree via a couple of strops and winched the van up the hill.

That gladly cost me a couple of crates of ale 👏👏👏👍👍👍👍

Installed 23 metric fence panels in the space of 23 six foot fence panels... with wonky posts.

I'm proper fucked.

The 6 foot panels cost £16. The new 1800mm panels were £62ea, you can imagine the weight difference.

That does my tits in. Local timber yard sells the 1800mm panels but you can bet your house on every winter the panels i get to replace at work are between older six foot posts. They sell spacer straps of wood but the end job looks shit. Found another timber yard about eleven miles further away that sell the proper six foot ones so fuck buying local to support your local community.

I got the euro fillets to screw to the panels.

Only half of them needed both fillets.

Some of the ones I put both fillets on needed ten minutes of bashing with the mallet to fit.

What panels did you buy at 60 odd quid each. The ones i have been replacing are then flimsy shit woven things at just over 30 quid plus vat.

This kind of stuff or the three feet tall ones

Grrr...Imperial/metric. Used to have a rather modern (at the time) design house with suspended acoustic tile ceilings throughout. After a water leak I needed to replace a couple of stained tiles. Since the house-build ceiling tiles had gone metric. Ended up having to rejig the whole supporting framework and replace about 20 square metres of ceiling. :(

Brightened the place up though so I replaced the whole lot in the end.

If they're freshly made panels they are normally "wet". When I did my back fence, I kept the panels spaced and up on stillages for over a week before fitting them. They weighed about half of what they did after drying out.

A timely reminder that I really need to get round to ordering some new panels. Our twat of a new neighbour decided to put in a new, higher fence and left the old fence there, which is technically his fence. So now we can see the back of his new fence overlooking the old one. it looks really odd and I'm going to need either 7ft custom made panels or 6ft + 1ft trellis tops to try and cover it.

Can't you just take the old panels out and be happy with the extra space? If you ask him he may agree without considering his boundary has moved.

Much of my garden is wider because of how neighbours have altered their boundaries. Not by much, but on one side putting up a new fence 'inside' the previous one, on the other by having a block built garage inside the boundary and no fence.

Perhaps I should charge upkeep :D

That is what I was originally going to do, but then the wife says she wants all the panels painted a certain colour and it'll bleed through to their side. So for the price of half a dozen panels I'll just keep the peace and try to see it as an advantage..

It's a pissing wet, cold day in sunny Spain. The highlight of my day has been emptying the toilet cassette.

I've been out three times today :o :o :o

Normal morning coffee and practice my French. Then a mate called as he's just arrived back to resort from the UK and was dropping his sister and family at ski school, so we had coffee. Then I went for lunch with a friend in the village up higher from me (cable car ride up, so relatively simple!) - bloody awesome lunch, and her treat! But, sat in the sunshine, looking at the pistes and eating fab food with fab company!! Awesome

I'm home now, had the injection from the nurse and she took some blood as well. Also sorted out a suitcase someone wants to borrow.

I'm bloody knackered - might be asleep before she comes to get the case!!
