Aha! Another swingarm swap out! At least yours is a lot cleaner and probably less hassle to swap over.

Piggin heck, what u been at..
Reading the details is there someone on here that can machine you some decent ''milled'' end caps ? or even spacers for the axle bolt ?
And why u don't use nylock nuts on those bolts ?

Better make sure some proper scrutineering goes on when he turns up at Pembrey with his shonky bike this year @Alan PBTD

They'd be wallered out and need replacing every third Thursday the amount of times he tales it apart to spray Mr Sheen about.

I discussed the Nylock nuts with @Couchy briefly, but the question was i guess "why don't Yamaha" so didn't go down that route yet.
I have marked them with the yellow pen and also used a bit of Gorilla Tape on the top of the caps as a 'just in case' but in simple terms we're thinking about a resolution to a problem that only exists if you don't torque them up before heading out. User error i think they call it.

I've often wondered how many times the nylon jobbies can be on/offed.

A dab of 241/242 threadlock will work and give piece of mind.weeksy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 6:08 am

Well, consider what they cost...Mind u the no of times Weeksys' got the back wheel in and out he'd be better off buying a bagful.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 7:16 am I've often wondered how many times the nylon jobbies can be on/offed.
If u had some end caps made u could include some decent markers to keep the back wheel straight ?

The markers are on the swingarm. They're pretty clear to read.
I think it's a problem that doesn't really need a solution. Well, apart from tightening the 2 nuts correctly

Self locking nuts are usually considered to be single use, but the reality is quite different.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 7:16 am I've often wondered how many times the nylon jobbies can be on/offed.

Re: INCOMING, Happy 50th to me.... Yeah, it's a Yamaha... it's the easy option.
Was looking and after the dealer fitted my heated grips when i bought the bike, the levers have been fitted at different angles, with the clutch angled flatter than the brake. As no-one touched the brake, i'm making the assumption this is the correct angle...
So i moved the clutch down to match but the mirror stalk seems a completely different angle and seems to be too far forward compared to the brake stalk. Obviously the levers are now matched in angle.... but the stalks i'd say not.
Overall though now the weather is improving and the tarmac finally dry and a bit more grippy i'm starting to slowly get more used to this thing. The only thing i can't do is move my foot on the RHS footpeg back into 'race' position. But that's been an issue with a fair few bikes over the years now. On track i kinda set myself into that position and then it just stays there, but on the road i like a more comfortable position so ideally i'd move it back for certain corners... but that's just not really happening in terms of bendy knee.

Had the same lever issue on mine. I adjusted it like you have, but had to put it back and get used to odd angled levers as the odd angled mirror stalks bugged the hell out of me!weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 1:50 pm Was looking and after the dealer fitted my heated grips when i bought the bike, the levers have been fitted at different angles, with the clutch angled flatter than the brake. That's one reason why I went with bar-end mirrors. I couldn't get the levers where I liked, without the mirrors being all to cock.

Don't tempt me. This place will explode if I go with bar end mirrors

Some folk just think bear-end mirrors are the naffest of naff, but aside from raising the blood pressure of the mirrorista, they sometimes have a practical use.
Don't sling 'em under the bars and then less folk will die from an aneurysm.

I've been lucky so far with the Gixxus bit of knee pain for the first ride but been ok since. Also found I am subconsciously doing the foot moving back for faster riding without thinking about it after initially finding it a bit uncomfy doing it on the first ride. Will know more Fri if the weather holds as intend on being out most of the day.

Clutch is set for left hand optimum wrist angle comfort and brake set for closed throttle position. Made all that up, but you never know.
